USA continues to play too fancy. Their coach HAS to be telling them to simplify their game, right?

I assume that review was too see if the puck went in the net off Katchouk's hand initially, it clearly went off the post and then USA touched it first. And earlier hand pass isn't reviewable I don't think anyway.

Formenton is lucky he didn't get 5 and a game for spearing there TBH. They called it "slashing" but he tapped him in the cheek with the blade of his stick. Pretty much the definition of spearing as weak as it was.

This Canada team is really tough to beat

I'd like to agree but I can't, because that isn't what this game is showing.

Canada is just doing a better job of keeping their game simple and handling the conditions. That's great for them, but it really doesn't show who the better team is. It just shows who the more adaptable team is in garbage conditions.

I would like to see a skilled game. Now that junior teams are playing the trap and the conditions make good passing and stick handling impossible the older bigger team playing their system will always win. US goal tending has been mediocre and their D not much better. We are seeing pond hockey at its worst.

I wouldn't call it a spear but it was a dumb penalty. I'd bench him after penalty.

This is right.

You can't determine who the better team is from this shit show

It was weak enough that I think they called it slashing because they didn't want to have to kick someone out and give a 5 minute penalty for something that weak, and it was after the play was over so I don't think it could be called a high stick. By definition it's a spear but it was so weak I understand why they went with slashing.
