Lots of talent but none of them are playing defence. Salo looks a tier below the quality you usually see from top teams.

It was really weird decision accredit Robin Salo and leave E Räsänen sitting his ass off in the press-box.
Eemeli has played 1,5 years agains't those Canadian OHLers and he knows them better than everyone else except Jokiharju and Välimäki.
I really thought that Ahokas is better coach than Rautakorpi but now it doesn't look that.

You can't poke the puck to that spot. It was a horrible play
So you let the man streaking to the net get the pass?

really. It was a dangerous pass in a high danger area. You 100% try to get a stick on it. Sure you would love to direct it to the corner but you also expect your forwards to be back and help

WHY do people keep talking about the refs being Russian? The video judge is Canadian, he's the guy that counted the goal... how are so many people not capable of grasping that?
I don't care what nationality he is, someone should check his wallet. There's a mighty good chance he has CANADIAN DOLLARS in it, maybe tens of them. Why would someone have CANADIAN DOLLARS in Buffalo, New York, USA!!

The PP just stands and does nothing. Make chances for tolvanen ffs. And players without puck are allowed to MOVE.

Need more energy, need be more ready passes need to go tape to tape we need to finish every chance to check. Looks liie offgame..

2-1 Canada, still not out of reach. Cant count the first Canadian goal.

This isn't Canada being dominant, this is the Finns being disoriented and exposed to the small ice skating speed. There's no real storyline to be made from this match, other than this Finnish team can just go upwards from the hole they are in.

Yep, the score looks bad but Canada didn't skate circles around us, we made some stupid mistakes and didnd't play even close to our potential.
Canada as well can play much better.

Great start to the tourney. We know that these teams are going to look a lot different deeper into the tourney. Let's just enjoy a good hockey game!

Canada's D looks small and not really able to break a cycle. We look like a quick strike team that can't really play a possession game. Either way, I love that we chose a more skilled and fast group this year. Hopefully we'll dust off the cobwebs and come out strong in the 2nd.

Russian ref ON THE ICE called it a goal too.

I can understand that the referee misses that one, it was relatively fast situation. Referees have human reactions. What I don't understand that how the video referee can miss that too (his call at that point) or, how does Finnish coaching challenge that since at least someone there definitely knows the rules.

We're pretty even skillwise so far I think. Finland's forwards have had the more creative solo performances but more gaffes to even it out. Canada earning the lead so far with better composure.

The poor reffing has definitely been hitting both sides so while the first goal was certainly a moronic decision, I do think it was just that. Not a North American conspiracy by the.. Russians? So chill out my fellow Finns.

Well, entertainment wise I thought it was a pretty subpar period as the play was kind of herky jerky and disjointed but overall I am pretty happy with how Canada played, they were the better team that period and deserve the lead so quite pleased.

I see some potential in this Finnish team though and if they can smooth things out I think they could come back to tie this game up in the 2nd.

At least thats how I see it .

Heponiemi looks better than Tolvanen through one period. Tolvanen didn’t create anything

I have no idea why people (including the Finnish coach) think Tolvanen should create anything. Isn't he supposed to be the finisher? Big shot and everything...?
