That rule only matters if defending player displaces the net.

Read the rules again...

I have read the rules. Perhaps the interpretation was that the goalie displaced the net.

I know the rule in the NHL is if the puck is already headed in the direction of going in it doesn't matter if the net is dislodged. Must be the same rule for the tournament or it wouldn't of counted.

I believe the rule is if the play (shot) has been made, it can cross the goal line even if the net is dislodged.

Which is why they allowed the goal.

It's like a buzzer beater in the NBA. You can score as long as the ball is released before the buzzer goes off.

So much overreacting going on in this thread... on both sides. Sure it was a terrible call but bad calls will happen for every team and there's no reason to call it rigged. And on the other hand some Canadians have been really quick to judge the Finns... you can't really judge Finland's defence just from the first 15 minutes of the first game of the tournament.

Canada has great depth and coaching, and Hart is annoyingly good.

Luukkonen isnt ready, a lot of the Finns werent ready for the speed of the small ice, they take too much time to think being used to the space.

Finland's play seems more naive combined with Canadas superior goaltending

Finland has produced top class goalies for many years now, and this guy was their best option?

He was in breakaway with no defenders near him. How on earth he could have been pushed by defenders?

noticing mete is a very aggressive defenseman offensively speaking. He looks great rushing the puck and joining the offense. He's going to be a good defenseman for the habs once he gets bigger and matures in a couple of years.
