Good god, just relegate this Czech team. That's even worse than how 98s did.
To think 2000 is the generation that gets to play at home WJC in 2020... ****.

EDIT: Actually, hopefully Czechs grind a win against France to stay in the top group. 01s are much better and don't deserve to play a tier lower.
But haven't they always done poorly in the preliminary round? I wouldn't be surprised if they play in the semifinal.

They always do poorly in preliminary round just to get spanked in the quaterfinals and go home. Czech U18 always goes from being somewhat of a contender at the Hlinka to hot garbage at the U18 WJC. This year is (will be) no different.

Ah, I see. Maybe I was thinking about the Hlinka then. I still think Finns will have a hard time against Czechs in this tournament.

Not too pleased with the US defense and goaltending. Theres no defensive structure what so ever. Frustrating to watch them flounder around with the talent they have back there. Forward group is as potent as expected.

USA should be clear favorite to win U18 WJC gold this year so what's wrong with USA's team.
11 allowed goals in 2 U18 WJC games is a lot so there has to be some problems with defence and goalies.

I'm not seen USA's game so i don't judge them without reason.
But somehow i have a feeling for that USA will be much stronger and better team when quarterfinals starts.

Terrible. Stupid penalties, trying to do too much himself, doesn't trust his teammates etc. He is the problem in his line.

Maybe Finland should try Anton Lundell in first line's C and Kotkaniemi 3rd line C or winger.
Hopefully Rasmus Kupari joins Finland's team soon.

Belarus has played pretty well against Canada. I was surprised how many decent players they've got. If their starting goalie didn't give up 3 goals on the 3 shots he faced the game could be much closer. I think they also beat Czechs a few days ago.

man Knight was horrible today, kid was obviously nervous, one of the worst games he has played in a long time...this team just needs a goalie to make the saves they are supposed to and the games will be routes.

Yeah, I felt bad for Knight, he looked pretty crushed after the game. Even if his team won.

They also need more from the defense. York has been really good and I think M. Samuelsson has been okay too but Wilde and Miller have been disappointing.

The thing is, I'm not even sure that's on the players. They seem to play with a lack of structure and a lack of awareness in their zone and are way too aggressive. Especially given all the skilled forwards they have. Might be on the coach/game plan.

I'd switch the defensive pairings. Don't want Wilde and Miller playing together.

M. Samuelsson-Wilde
Miller-Emberson
York-Stastney
A. Samuelsson

I thought the Czech junior program was improving... what happened?

Majority of 2000 born players stagnated. Last year it was looking like a solid, competetive group. Malik, Zabransky, Dajcar, Gajarsky, Dluhos, Klejna, Blumel... didn't make much progress though.
If I had to guess, we will see only four Czech 00 born players drafted this year (Lauko, Jenik, Pekar and Dostal) which is obviously terrible. We can thank the late 99s for making the 2018 draft interesting for Czech fans.

Switched to SWE-BLR and wow Belarus looks pretty good. In the last 8 minutes or so they outplayed Sweden and deservedly got the lead.
The Czech loss against them in the prep. stage doesn't look all that crazy anymore.

Just realized three 2019-born players are currently leading the tournament in scoring. That's pretty cool.
