I've got colleagues at work asking how he still has a job. I have my eye trained on someone higher up and ask the same question, not that theirs isn't valid or tough to answer.

Center is the position that Timmins has had the least success in drafting. By that I mean he's had 0 success so far at the NHL level. Flat 0 in 15 years. What the f***, bro? How is that even possible?

I think he's aiming to change that recently. He was talking about drafting ''centers and D'' after last draft.

I was here last week, talking about you guys picking Kotkaniemi or Tkachuk.

That would be amazing for you guys. Much better than Zadina.

I'm still pretty wary of Kotkaniemi's skating. Anytime he's not moving in a straight line, his edge work and mobility is off. I don't see the technical foundations that strength would really help improve on - there would need to be some extensive adjustments to how he's moving his body and placing his feet. His balance and multi-directional mobility is really hindered by it and I don't see that jiving in the NHL.

There's so much more to like, but I'd hate to start behind the 8 ball when we're looking at a top-3 pick. If he's picked, I'll be happy, but I've got my reservations.

If we get through this draft with this many picks, and this many good Swedish players available without a good Swede, we should fire Rockström.

Yessir.

Over the time I have followed the draft, my biggest beef with our favorite team has been the misses of players right in our backyard.

But our European drafting - Swedes and Finns - woefully bad.

Maybe that turns around this year...maybe...

Tavares also had questionable skating during his junior career but he improved on it. Not saying this is for sure with Kotkaniemi, but I’d be more confident of a 17 year old improving his skating than somebody say 23-24.

I am going to take the advice of ten NHL scouts (of which 8 are their teams head scouts) over some random HF dudes. Yes Tkachuk is that good.

Well, technically you're only taking the advice of 9 of those scouts, as one had him out of the top 5.

@NotProkofievian

After reading Bobs article, Kaut underwent the procedure I talked about earlier.

He probably had what we call TSVP, and more specifically, Wolff-Parkinson-White (though the cardiologist who did the procedurr apparently thinks he didnt even have it).

Wasn't the same said of Kotkaniemi as a top 5 pick ?

Or, that it wasnt true the draft was wide open as soon as number 3 ?

Tkachuks good, but he's not a clear top 5 guy, he's anything between 5-12.

Remember that advice also said Yakupov was the best player in 2012 (negative), Forsberg was 3rd best (positive), Griffin Reinhart was 4th best (negative). List is sometimes good, but not absolute.

Fonstad is just way too low imo. I'd be doing backflips if we take him with our 3rd, let alone 4th.

Same, Im reviewing my final list (where I think Im just not going to rank players I dont like) and Im guessing he'll make the top 31, or 45 at the very least.
