That's 10 players that are guaranteed. Isles have 11+12. I really like Farabee+Kravstov. But over Zadina? Also, no clue who the Habs value there. They could take Veleno+Hayton...

Trade #3 for NYI picks, select Kravtsov and one of Berggren/Veleno/Smith/Farabee.

Zadina is a fine player, plus he pretty much ready to start next year. I wouldn't give that up unless there's solid value in return. I'm not so sure the Isles would put both their first rounders on the table honestly, I wouldn't want anything less to start thinking about it.

I didnt include Hughes, so its all good.
Its basically a combination of
Wahlstrom/TKachuk/Dobson/Hughes/Boqvist/Bouchard/Kotkaniemi/Smith and
Farabee/Veleno/Denisenko/Berggen/Kravtsov/Wilde/Alexeyev/Kaut/Bokk/Hayton/Berggren
Imagine if one or more of the 2nd group goes before the first group too? Thats incredible value.
Id move it, possibly adding a late round pick to do it.
Love Zadina, but hes not better than Smith/Kravtsov or Hughes/Denisenko or wtv you can come up with.
Id probably pick Top 7+Veleno ahead of Zadina too.

Can't agree about Veleno, he isn't going to make up for the difference. I would be the first to do backflips if we got Kotkaniemi+Farabee, but also the first to fly to Montreal just to punch Bergevin in the throat for taking Veleno+Hayton over Zadina.

I'm not all that familiar with draft lists. But will the lists updated in May and then in June?
I would probably only trade back with NYI if Jesperi is still there. Kotkaniemi + one of Kravtsov, Smith, Farabee for #3. (doubt Hughes would be there)

In order for Habs to trade the #3, they'd need to do it before their selection. So how would they know at that moment that Kotkaniemi would be available where the Isles select (at 11th)? There would be 7 selections before then. No guarantee that Kotkaniemi doesn't get taken then.

They wouldn't. It's a huge gamble.
Probably too much for my taste. Just get another high end pick with Pacioretty. Or don't drop that much and get a late 1st instead.

Dobson is dropping for me. He looks like a real solid 2 way guy in a McDo way. Sure we can use such a player but though there is much more risk to find a player like that in other rounds, they exist. Boqvist I think brings that as an example in terms of D, and I am more comfortable with him than Hughes.
Trading down for me the tempting target is Kotkaniemi because I'm thinking 1C potential. Not elite, but 1C potential is good enough for me. I had thought of him stylistically as a Kopitar , though I had read ROR some other place, but Button also says Kopitar, and Toews.
Hard part of trading down a few spots is you dont know if the guy is going to be there. Kotkaniemi all of a sudden at different sites is ranked 8 -10, but also mid first, and later . Wide band, who really knows , could he go 6 , 7 , 12 or 15 ?

Too much for my taste, as well. But using Pacioretty to get another 1st is a move I'd make. Basically for me, I'm not moving that 3rd. But I would look to add another 1st.

The more I see Mattias Samuelsson, the more I like his steady, reliable game on defense. He's decent at pretty much everything. Not great at anything mind you . Adam Samuelsson on the other hand is a complete ND for me, he can barely pivot without tripping over himself.
