I never said I was not a fan of Hallander, to be clear. Just not a fan of him in the early 2nd.

And at this point ive probably seen every video ever of 99.99% of draft eligibles.

I have a lot of spare time.

Yeah, but Hållander's shot is good, so shut up.

Thats where youre wrong, kiddo.

His shot is fine, he beats meh goalies with it, he wont beat NHL goalies. His shooting needs a lot of coaching. His use of balance for power sucks. He basically stands on one leg because thats what he saw on tape.

Also, players with that type of shot dont beat goalies from 25' out in the NHL.

Well, unless its Carey Price in a clutch moment.

So if I understand the lottery on Saturday they start and count down, meaning the 3 teams that will pick 1-3 will know before that part of the lottery by exclusion from higher (as in later numbers) picks?

And like he scores 3 one-timer goals within the first minute of that video.

I CANNAE EVEN
Do we realllllly need to define one timer now. Those are all wrist shots one timer, aka you dont score with them unless your one time wrister is like next level elite. Still waiting on an Ovi one timer. But I know he doesnt take those, so I wont get them. So he wont be a threat on the PP or outside of the rush.

Sad.

They will reveal the lottery from like 14 onward.. so if you're supposed to pick 14 and you're not there, well, you know you're at 1-2-3.

So you're knocking him down because he doesn't possess/utilize a slap shot one timer that perennial Maurice Richard winner Alexander Ovechkin has?

And he is absolutely a threat on the PP, he's the guy around the goalie. That's his bread and butter. And I think that video demonstrated quite clearly that he is a threat on the rush as well. Both in scoring and playmaking.

He's an inside foot shooter, breh. That's pretty standard these days. Kessel almost exclusively shoots off his inside foot.

Im saying people dont score from as far as hes scoring with this type of shot. Players who score 20 feet out from the net usually have elite wristers or one timers, he does not possess that.

And yes, i already said his best bet is around the net, just like Lekhonen or Gallagher.

At least he tries to be. The force generated by Kessel on his shot is overwhelming for goalies, couple that with his elite release and his funny fat face and you have goalies crying left and right.

Hallander doesnt possess these three qualities.

Most of his goals are around the net.. the point we are making with his shots that are from distance that go in are that he is beating pro-level goalies (Allsvenskan-SHL), these aren't young kids for the most part, so it shows he has the capacity to beat a goalie from distance, not that he will do it with regularity.

To me, he's a grittier version of James Van Riemsdyk. That's a valuable player. Absolutely worth a first round selection and especially a high 2nd round selection.

I really don't see many players rated in the 2nd round who have the type of one-timer or shot that you are talking about. Hell, Veleno is rated near the top ten and I don't think he could score on me.

Remember what was my main concern with Hallander? Offensive upside. I think what you just said falls in line with what im saying.

Anyhow, we can all agree to disagree. Not expecting Hallander to ever score 30 goals in the league.

Unless its like 25 dirty goals with 5 ENGs

Quote me when it happens.

I don't expect Hållander to be a regular 30 goal scorer either, but he will be able to score with his shot from a distance. Why I don't expect him to score 30 is that that's really not his game, and he doesn't have a wide arsenal of shots. I do think he has 50 points in him, though. More of a 20g 30A guy, depending on who he's playing with.

Obviously. But he does everything else offensively.

I have Hallander ahead, not miles ahead, but he's ahead and that's because I think Hallander's offensive game translates easier to the NHL. He goes to where he needs to go and he's effective there. Berggren is highly skilled but I mean, as much as that goal he scored today was absolutely beautiful, that doesn't happen much in the NHL either.

Ultimate offensive upside? Berggren definitely.
But in terms of offensive upside vs. likelihood to be an effective NHL player anywhere in the line-up? It's Hallander.

30 assists might be pushing it too, maybe on a stacked team or if hes given a lot of time to be the glue guy next to two elite guys.

You know who I think hed be great with? Sid. Prototypical Sid winger there.

Which is absolutely worth a high 2nd round pick. I don't think if we're talking about a guy who can regularly score 40-50 pts at the NHL level, that people wouldn't be willing to spend a high 2nd round pick on that.

I agree with what youre saying, i just like the Berggren upside a lot more.

Usually, youre on this side of the fence too, weird that youd be there with Hallander and Berggren.

It always depends what is available, usually id shoot for the Subban and Kucherov of this world, with every picks. Or almost.
