Absolutely. People keep saying that the Habs need to get a center for Patches. But if they take a center at 3 and trade Pacioretty for that much needed elite PMD, it's the same thing. I doubt the Isles do that though. I can see them trading a 1st, but for a dman.

Yeah, they clearly need a defenseman. If Tavares signs pre-draft, they may use both picks to try to get Karlsson. Worth a try though to see if they want Patch

He had difficulty scoring in his draft season. For the longest time he had 0 points and came out of the season with fewer points and ppg than either Hållander and Olofsson had this year. IIRC, his U18 didn't start so hot either leading him to finish 4th in team scoring after a strong finish to the tournament. But he had a hat-trick in one game (think that might have represented 4 or 5 of his 7 points, actually). It would be like if Kotkaniemi had like 15 points in Liiga and only played the 5 nations.

I thought he looked fantastic at the U18s, even if he wasn't scoring. Like a guy who was so much smarter than everyone else that he was too many steps ahead, and nothing worked. There was talk around here of drafting Collberg instead of Forsberg because of Collberg's superior tournament lmao.

I remember wanting us to draft him around mid season (pre-draft). Preds did very well picking him up.
 
Seeing this list makes me realize the haul the Islanders are going to get with their 1st+2nd and Calgary's 1st+2nd.

And Farabee will be a great pick around 15 if he goes that low.

I took Bouchard with Vancouver's 7th in the main draft. I do think a RH point producing D is something that they would love to draft.

However, when I took him Boqvist & Dobson were already gone. (Montreal took Boqvist at #3).

I don't think you take Bouchard over Boqvist if given the chance.

If that happens then teams must be worried about his ability to withstand the NHL grind.

If he's taking headshots in Sweden.....

A few observations on Mckenzie's latest rankings today...

- Lets hope Groulx goes before 35.
- Hope O'Brien is there at 35. He is no longer a sleeper pick.
- Surprised to see Sandin at 27. Seems to be ranked anywhere from 15-30.
- Not surprised to see Dellandrea at 23rd.
- Tychonick all the way down to 50th? Ginning at 43rd?
- Wise at 52. Don't think he slips to 56th :(
- Fortier could be a solid pick at 56th or 62nd
- Rodrigue at 49th. This might help someone slip to 56th if he is taken before.

I actually think the top 14 will be a clear group. I don't see many surprises:
