But what's the rush? This team is going to suck for years. Stock pile these guys develope them properly. Let's do a proper rebuild for once. Anyone that can help will only put us closer to the abyss of mediocrity.

That guess wasn't based on rushing him.

It's what the recent Finnish prospects have shown, by 19-20 season Kotkaniemi will have had 2 years in Finnish pro league and if he keeps developing like this that league shouldn't offer him that much development wise anymore which means you have to upgrade the competition level to get him to develop as good as possible.
I wouldn't be keeping him down in lower leagues to help the team tank& I wouldn't rush him either if a team has a goal of developing him into #1C.

Yeah my response was more to spooky constantly saying that Kotkaniemi won't be able to help for years...... And that's fine. Zadina isn't NHL ready either. But we are in no position to rush any prospect. I realize.i confused things by quoting your post in agreement, and arguing a counter point lol.

Lies. Hughes is good defensively. Not great but good. Was one of the best plus minus players on his NCAA team..... How does that happen if he's a bad defensively pp specialist like everyone that doesn't watch him stereotypes him as?
Totally agree about the progressive coaching/ management though.

I heard it on a Pronman or Friedman podcast.

I see the thread is a cluster****

Yeah, the sentiment went from "this is one of the deepest drafts in years through the second round" to "it sucks and no one is going to help us for 3 years" really really quickly.

People need to step back from the ledge a bit here. We sucked last year with Chucky (thus the lottery pick) and we'll very likely suck next year with Domi (and get another lottery pick).

This draft WILL help us. I actually think ALL of Dahlin, Svechnikov, Zadina, Tkachuk, Kotkaniemi, Dobson & Hughes will be NHLers within a year. The question is how good will they become.

The lack of faith in MB - well earned - is definitely at its swell right now.

I think the concern is how many holes and pitfalls the players in the top-10 have. No question that there's a lot of potential with all of them, but as there's more discussion about the players, there's more realization of some of their faults. It's how every year goes, nothing new IMO.

Some of the excitement has been sucked out with the recent trade. The general unhappiness is palpable & is in every thread.

Still, it's a good draft & we'll get a good player. Not a superstar but a strong top 6 forward or a top 2D.

Honestly its win win this draft imo, i mean hell yeah im bummed about the trade but if we pick the scorer zadina, the center kotkaniemi, or a great D in boqvist, hughes or dobson, they'll become our best prospect and we'll desperately need their help right away, plus might trade max for pick, plus 4 stabs in the 2nd round on some interesting names...the draft is going to be fun i HOPE

The problem is if we pick Tkachuk, he just doesnt FIT we have too many f***ing LW's as it is

That's what everyone seems to be missing. There are multiple prospects at three that are pretty much equal. The difference honestly is opinion/preference. But they are all fantastic prospects!

Omg you guys are annoying the other option is just there so that it one of you dumbos dont like these two you say other.
I don't understand how anyone wouldn't like the 2 players. I would be so freaking happy getting those 2 guys with our 2nds, that it makes taking Tkachuk at 3 ok. Well. Maybe not.

Its pick 35, you walk up to the stage and you have three choices

Jonathan Berggren
AlexAlex
Other

Who is ur boi

@NotProkofievian
@WeThreeKings
@G0bias
@Habs76
@DramaticGloveSave
@The Great Schlemko
@MarkovsKnee

Here I was complaining about Smurfville 2.0 earlier & I'd take Berggren over Alex Alex, but only because I don't think Alex is going to have much of an offensive game at the NHL level otherwise I like him a lot too.

Of course, if others thought Alex squared could produce offensively at the NHL level he'd be ranked a lot higher.

Alex has top 4 defensive D potential. Tough to play against etc., etc. But Berggren plays like Gallagher (not a perimeter player, willingness to go to the net) except with vision, passing skills & terrific puck control skills. Fantastic speed too. He has top 6 upside for sure. He could wind up as an Arvidsson type (who was taken in the 4th round).

Go with the guy with the higher upside & who can be an offensive contributor. Defensive D are a lot easier to draft then scoring forwards, which is why D fall & scoring forwards get taken early in most drafts.

Also, no way either is there at 35. I'd be shocked. Take the one that is there.

Hokey godz plz

Didn't play the game vs Saskatoon I was at, but I've heard a lot of good things from Red Deer fans. Apparently showed a lot of character after his mom passed away and he had to head back to Russia. Seems pretty well liked and his on-ice performance is obviously really solid. Could be a really interesting pick up at the start of the 2nd.
