Who was the last guy who united Grant, the HFHab gang, and Trevor Timmons? McCarron?

I wanna say Scherbak. I remember there being some heated discussion about McCarron.

Scherbak was a bit more like a Beaulieu though in the sense that he was a pleasant surprise to be there. McCarron was a guy who everyone knew was going to be there.

That was my ''draft like it's football'' phase. I thought a lot of Nicolas Baptiste as a result. lolololol

Not the end of the world but I can see both Sandin and Alexeyev gone before 35. Same as Dellandrea. Not sure about O'Brien. I think he goes early 2nd and right around where we pick. However, it would be a shame if we don't walk away with at least 1 LD prospect with some upside from our 4-2nd's

After doing draftwired a few times, I realized very quick of the limited options at LD.

Yea, this is not that deep of a draft for D. But there's some quality ones in the top 50. After that it thins out quite a lot.

Scout loves progression and rightfully so. If Kotkaniemi is drafted top 6 it's not only because he is a center. It's because he has shown he can become an impact player in the NHL.

Yea, this is not that deep of a draft for D. But there's some quality ones in the top 50. After that it thins out quite a lot.

I think we need a LD with upside though. Those are very limited.

If we draft him, I think we'll all be hoping he's a late blooming Barkov... that would be a dream.

I personally hated the McCarron pick. I wanted Hartman.

I will not talk for other. Mantha was never in consideration because he was obviously going before our selection. I was very high on Mantha.

Mantha was very much an option for us. And many here had him as a "no draft"

I still have a hard time getting my head around the fact that among a sample size of 10 NHL teams one team has Hayton in his top5, which means that theoretically speaking Hayton could actually go top5 in the draft, that would be mind-boggling. Watch MTL trade down to 5 to draft Hayton and additionally pick Ginning with the extra 2nd. You've got your 1C plus an extra asset, what more can you ask for?

I don't think he's quite at Sasha's level, that would be putting the bar a bit too high. They are very similar in style though, it's an obvious comparative.

Barkov is one of the best centers in the league, I can't see Kotkaniemi becoming that.

Barkov was way ahead at the same age, and was an elite prospect for years heading into his draft, while Kotkaniemi is a riser. But it's literally a perfect world scenario.
