lol, another draft expert, please tell me you had him rated top 5 all year too...u guys are too much lol
We are just trying to figure what after so many years of doing the same thing with Bob Mckenzie, NHL scouts SUDDENLY want to sabotage the Habs for some reason. Even if that was their goal, why would the Habs scouts even be bothered by this. It essentially means that all their work for the past year has been for absolutely nothing if they can get influenced so easily. This has never happened before and there is no reason for these scouts to go full CIA mode to try and sabotage the Habs pick.

He's asking a legitimate question though, why would Habs needs influence how multiple other scouts view him ?

Honestly, this thread is ahead of the curve on most prospects. We had Nils Lundkvist climbing the charts long before others did.

I myself can boast that I had Dobson very high long before others were willing to put him in the top ten.

I think since the habs are picking at 3 and are in dire need of a top line centre, it may play some with the sudden value of the top rated centre

I can appreciate that but man people are ready to pounce here lol

Like I said, i just hope habs scout take the good player at 3 :). Dont f**** this TT :).

For me its between Zadina, Kotka and walstrom.

Pick 1-3 is a forward for me! Except for a exceptionnel defence like Ramus. You can find à first pairing defenceman in second round, but first line foward are almost pick in round 1

Here's another question: who do think will have the more impressive D+1 season, Kravtsov or Kotkaniemi ?
That's a good one. With Pori confirming he'll play center next season and the perks of having papa as coach - top line and 1st PP minutes is a possibility. Which could pay off big time.

KHL is usually not as favourable to younger guys but I'm not familiar with Traktor's situation. They did give him plenty of minutes in the playoffs. Kravtsov's definitely a wild card.

To me, the fact that there's only 1 great center at the top and a wealth of defensemen and snipers tells me we should pick the center at 3 and trade Max for the other pick.

Absolutely. We have discussed the risk of trading down and losing JK. Now with this major development trading down would make little sense unless there is a near guaranty that JK would not be picked by any team ahead of the Habs post trade.

It’s extemely tight between 3-11 (in our rankings) , there’s no bad pick really. We really love Boqvist since last year and he’s 11th, if not of the concussion issue he probably be higher. Kotkaniemi we have him 8, does taking him at 3 seems like a reach ? a bit but i can’t stress this enough how close it’s in that 3-11 group. We spend in our rankings meeting a lots of time figuring out that 3-11 group. As close as we’ve seen in the past, similar to 2006 with Dubois & Tkachuk but that was 2 players and not 9. That first round is going to be very interesting starting with the habs pick at #3.

People must stop looking at where players were ranked 4 months ago. Look at what the players brings now!

Talent/BPA is not based on how long one has been seen as a top 5 pick.

Otherwise guys like Hunter Shinkaruk would all be superstars.

Just look at what kind of player Kotkaniemi is today, not what peiple thought of him yesterday!

I'm hoping for Dobson. Kid played 90 games last year...close to an NHL schedule. He got better as the year went on and was instrumental in the Memorial Cup. He can play in all situations and contribute. Yes he makes mistakes, but everyone does. He could be a 20 year anchor on defense for this team. And taking him makes Weber tradeable at some point. I get a lot of people want Zadina, especially if Patches gets traded. I also get the desire to take Kotkaniemi. He fills a long-term need at a critical position. I'd just rather see them add a stud defenseman this year and address center next year in a really strong draft for forwards/centers.

Mark Edwards was on The Pipeline Show today, talked about the making of the Blackbook , Tkachuk, Kravstov, Kaut, Lundqvist & K'Andre Miller.

I still think a trade with the Coyotes for swapping 1sts should work. Yotes desperately need a RW, and Zadina would compliment them perfectly. I also get the feeling that the Habs would pick Kotkaniemi/Dobson/Zadina and value them all equally. If Ottawa passes on Kotkaniemi we take him, if they do take him, Habs pick Dobson.

After listening to BobbyMac's podcast and watching film for countless hours today, I think I want us to pick Dobson or Kotkaniemi rather then Zadina. Preferably Dobson because Weber will be gone very soon whether it be trade or retirement. Also, It would probably be best to wait until next year for forwards. BCS is we get Dobson at 3 and get another top 10 pick to take Kotkaniemi.
