great answer, keep em coming

Well, we keep rehashing what's already been said and linked to multiple times.

On my personnal list, he was already the top center in February. Some had him there earlier. There's always a delay in the media because its the nature of things. What's printed and the quotes gathered are done over a period of time and might not represent the prevailing opinions at the time of print, or of a few weeks later.

where was he ranked all year?..that is all I am saying
Where he was ranked does not matter. Jake Wise was supposed to be a top 5 pick just a few months ago, should we pick him there? Consensus change in the year and what Kotkaniemi did is good enough to challenge any C drafted since Matthews.

Only because I feel some people are thinking about drafting for need, which I consider to be a slippery slope.

As I said, if our scouts feel Kotka is the BPA, great. If he isn't, don't reach because he's a center is all I'm saying.
I am intrigued by our potential four second round picks:
I would be happy with the following picks:
Dellandrea, Foudy, Nicholas Beaudin, Jake Wise, Berggren

Everything points to JK being a top 6 center next year in Liiga. What kind of production are you expecting ?

rehashing with who? I have never talked to you as far as I know...I made a comment, you didn't like it.

That's fine but you don't have to be rude about it...you having him rated that high for a long time is great, shows you know your stuff i guess

It didn't come out of nowhere. Scouts see a guy early in the year and compare where they are now to then. Kotkaniemi flashed but was very much a stale player in the beginning of the season. His progression as he got comfortable in the men's league was fantastic. Then he comes to the u-18 and leads a weak team to gold.. he's been a top 10 consideration since then and as scout meetings finish up, he ends up where he isn

The threads littered by arguments about the subject. That's what I meant. It seems every day a new poster asks the same thing.

Ill be disappointed if he doesnt go PPG plus. He has all the tools for it and showed a real ability to produce offense later in the year. I dont know if the splits agree with me, id have to check but it seemed that way. He seemed really shy the first few times I heard NP rave about him, them I caught him a few times doing what an elite player does. Something along the lines of TT or Aho would be a great start, while at C and improving strength on the boards and his defensive effectiveness.

Kotkaniemi was rated as the top centre all year and a top 5 pick?

Got no issue with picking him, none at all but he has clearly vaulted in the last couple of weeks, lets be real here

Yeah, he’s a young player that kept raising his stock throughout the year. That should be a positive, not a negative.

Were just tired of having to explain the same thing over and over, youre like the 50th person to come in and have the same comments about JK.

I think I read Pori was gonna lose a couple of guys up front. In any case, I could see him having Aho-like numbers.

Part of me hopes we draft Zadina so when we let a 6ft2 ultra skilled center slip out of our hands, we can all cry together.

Any chance you know who it is ?

Here's another question: who do think will have the more impressive D+1 season, Kravtsov or Kotkaniemi ?

Yeah, I think a 40 point season would be excellent. It’s tough to ask an 18 year old to be a 1C in a men’s league. It’s a lot of hard hockey, especially since he’ll be going to the WJC as well.
