For those that were in love with Sergachev in his draft year, Dobson was just as impressive offensively (though not as big of a shot) but miles ahead defensively. Really think the Habs brass love him.

Grab him then use all four 2nds on forwards, I’m down with that.
Get a top 15 pick for patches and grab Kravstov or Ty Smith

Larry Fisher from TheHockeyWriters posted a full 7 round mock.

For the Habs:
6: Jesperi Kotkaniemi. Has Svechnikov going 3rd, but thinks Detroit would trade up.
35: Nicholas Beaudin
38: Serron Noel
56: Filip Hallander
62: Philipp Kurashev
66: Ryan O'Reilly
97: Danila Galenyuk
102: Adam McCormick
122: Joey Keane
128: Gabriel Fortier
I like a solid four of those picks- Kotkaniemi, Noel, Hallander, Galenyuk.

Couldnt disagree more. Sergachev was an absolute offensive dynamo that would tear your team apart if he felt like it or if he was given space, Dobson just doesnt do that. Hes so tamed and shows unwillingness to carry the play past the blue line.

So he was 2nd on his team in points (69 total) by accident?

17 goals, the same amount as Sergachev in his draft year, because opposing players shot it into their own net.

I was just watching their quarterfinal matchup. These are correct to my eye. Bokk is dynamic both as a goalscorer and playmaker (I've seen some very pretty assists from him). However, he sucks dick from shift to shift. Karlsson is really smart.

Dobson showed willingness to join the rush in the Mem Cup. He likes to make give-and-go's and doesn't try n do it all himself

I like Dobson but if I had to choose between him and Hughes I’d go for Hughes, we are completely stacked at RD (Weber, Petry, Juulsen, Brook, Fleury) while we have almost nothing to show for at LD.

Some are weary of picking Zadina because of our abundance of wingers, but wouldn’t it be similar to pick Dobson with the panoply of RD that we have?

Anyway, I’ve always said that Dobson seems like the most Timmins-esque pick but we desperately need a top LD and Hughes would be Weber’s ideal partner.

Didn't see him play that much, wonder if he's more assertive when at center than on the wing, where he, indeed, is a passenger.

Before the coming of Hughes, he played C more often, right ?
He was still on the wing but he and Farabee were f***ing shit up. His games pre-Hughes is what made me a big fan, he was everywhere.

Reverse psychology

Not really.

You're not getting a franchise player outside of the top 2. Zadina is a hell of a talent but Tkachuk is a power winger you guys have not had in a very long time. Hell, Toronto hasn't had a guy like Tkachuk since an old Gary Roberts. You're going to get a really good player but Tkachuk is the only guy I see in that range that could make a physical and offensive impact on games between you guys and us.

Zadina might score 15-25 points more but having watched what Tkachuk has done against his peers, it's frightening to think what he could potentially become. He might be better than his older brother and his older brother is an impact player.

For me, it's far more frightening when a leafs player like Matthews keeps sniping it and scoring against us. Tkachuk won't and can't do that. Zadina can.

Tkachuk is the only guy in that top 5 range that could potentially get Matthews, Marner or Nylander off their game. I don't expect Zadina or Wahlstrom to be able to do that. You're going to get an excellent player though. Good for you guys.

Also, I just saw a Zadina quote from Friedman saying that the Habs are looking for a C or D.

I wonder if they gamble on Kotkaniemi. Craig Button loves the guy, it seems.

I hope you guys enjoy the draft. It's so much fun.

I don't think that is what the Habs need as much as other stuff. They desperately need high end talent. A guy like Tkachuk would be perfect on a team that barely missed the playoffs and have highly skilled forwards.
I have absolutely no clue who the Habs will pick at 3.

I really can't imagine the Habs taking Kotka unless they trade down.

They should move down to 6 or 7 and grab Kotkaniemi.

Stock up on all those picks and really turn this thing around.

You guys have so many picks. It's going to be so much fun watching what they do.
It should be, but I know that shit for brains Marc Bergevin will make another awful trade like Andrew Shaw. This is literally the only thing I have looked forward to this entire year, and I am petrified of what Bergevin will do to save his job.

I don't think so. I think he knows that if he pulls a stupid move, he likely won't get a next job.

It would be beneficial for him to start moving towards a proper rebuild. Him trading off assets this month, in order to save his job is career suicide. I don't think he'll do that. It's pretty obvious to other organizations that the Habs don't have a shot at contending with this core.

The most impressive thing he can do is have a bunch of talented kids playing at the WJC in 2019 and 2020.

Making the playoffs next season won't do anything for his job or career.

I think he knows that.
