Kotkienemi reminds me most of J. Toews. He is relentless and very skilled, but what makes him so impressive after several viewings is that he can beat you so many ways.

I'm not saying that I think he will be as good as Toews was, that would be remarkable. I think he be a #1 C, like Monahan or Schiefele or Johanssen, but not a franchise C.... but all this is just a guess anyway really.

Scheifele is a franchise C what da heck.


Also, why wouldnt Kotkaniemi be as good as Toews? Thats exactly what Im saying.

Kind of player that will explode next year. Hes super talented, I also wouldnt qualify his year as bad or anything, he actually did fine with how he came in IMO.
 
People are getting too caught up on upside, I mean everyone has limitless upside, you think anyone thought Tom Brady had the upside to be the GOAT when he was a scrawny, unathletic, weak armed 6th round QB?

What we are talking about is realistic upside- Monahan is a realistic ceiling for Kotkaniemi. Sure, he could end up the greatest player to play the game, but realistically his ceiling is Monahan level, and we would should all be thrilled with that.

Thats not even the point in making. Monahan is VERY conservative upside for Kotkaniemi.
 
And before he played his first game everyone thought Alexandre Daigle was all that and a couple of Hostess Chips factories.

Monahan’s been a 60 pt center on a weak team since he was 20 years old. VERY Conservative? Hardly. Kotkaniemi’s production was lower this season than Lehkonen’s at the same age, in the same league. If he ends up becoming Monahan even by 23-24, that’d be a huge score. As a betting man, I wouldn’t put my house on it.

He also outproduced Rantanen, despite this being his first year in Liiga, as opposed to Rantanen's second. 7th all time draft year production. Let's not get things confused.

No quotables on Iskhakov, Marchenko they said could score but those feet were problematic, one glowing quotable on Zhuravlyov just based on his talent level.

Shafigulin was mentioned and a lot of them said they just didn't see him live but what they did see, he checks all the boxes.

Any word on Berggren, Gustafsson? Do they have O'Brien even higher now?

Kravtsov as high as 6 might have to make me reconsider having him just outside the top 10.

Geez.....you guys are having me convinced that we are drafting Kotkaniemi now lol

I believe we’ll get him, just not with the 3rd overall though. Dobson is just so freggin good too......I’m so confused lol
 
I will be pissed if we don't pick Zadina.

I trust the hockey gods, if we didnt get Svechnikov, it means something. It means Zadina might be a better fit for us or might end up having a better or similar career to Andrei Svechnikov.

Scoring goals isn't easy. They may both end up 40 goals scorers just like Kucherov.
