Can't sign him until July 1, so how will that work?

Don't think a signed Max is still enough to pry a top 10 pick out of any of the teams in the top 10.

We give Edmonton permission to negotiate a contract with him before the trade and they can announce it on July 1st. Nashville did it with Turris last year.

Sometimes I wonder if Kotkaniemi was an American named Brady McLeod who played in the NCAA if this board would be as in love with him...

You guys are the ones obsessing over him lol

he's something once you look at him more than the "points"

- really mature for a young 17 years old
- ready for the NHL
- Youngest of his class and still dominated
- as good with his shots, defense and offense
- he's gonna be on Barkov level
- don'T really play Fortnite like the Vancouver kid

Maybe he prefers PUBG?

I like Kotkaniemi but I think he needs another year or two to develop physically and play big top-6 minutes as a center overseas.

Couple factual corrections: he's not the youngest player in this class, just quite young. Adam Boqvist is a month younger, for example. And he's not ready for the NHL.

Kotkaniemi doesn't have that kind of upside likely. Kuznetsov's a pretty special player. His skating is unreal and he can do anything at that speed, like Barzal and McDavid. He's having a historic playoffs.

I know that's not what you're saying, though. But yeah, I agree with the general point. Centers with IQ, hands, creativity, they're worth high picks.
Why wouldn't he have that upside ? He has all the tools to do it.

lmao. ''Also, Zadina is with the Mooseheads and they've had some pretty good EU imports these past years (hello Ehlers and Hischier). Tkachuk simply has it in his blood. He was raised to do this. Slothkaniemi? He didn't do bad against men, while playing as a winger. I'd even prefer Veleno to him.''

This is f***ing incredible reading. Bloodlines, euro imports (while ignoring Meier) and ''I'd even prefer Veleno to him.''

I may be in the minority, but I'm not all that high on Kotkaniemi. 'Course I don't dislike the guy and have him at 7, I'd just be disappointed if we took him third because I don't see the elite potential some of you guys see in him. His skating isn't even a worry, just most of the defensemen have higher ceilings, and are more dynamic. I see a good 2C in him, not a 1C that does everything.

I'm also heavily biased in favour of dmen this year. I'm hoping for plenty of good blueliners this year, centers next year.
