I’m 100% sure Buffalo will take Dahlin at 1.
I’m 99.9% sure Carolina will take Svechnikov at 2.

I’m 50% sure we wil take Tkachuk at 3 and 25% sure we will take Zadina and 25% sure we will take Kotkaniemi at 3.

Given all the picks the Habs have this year, there might be a more significant interest in attending a Draft Party.

Noticed that a couple of teams are already advertising theirs:

2018 NHL Draft Party
2018 Rangers Draft Party (Sold out!!!)

Has anyone ever attended the Habs Draft Party? What's it like?

Tkachuk's accomplishments are undervalued here. He had 3 goals and 9 points in 7 WJC games before he was eligible for the draft. Kostkaniemi had the exact same numbers in 7 WU18 games and posters here are badmouthing Tkachuk's offense. He also had 31 points in 40 games in NCAA Hockey East and posters are comparing those numbers to CHL players which is ridiculous just like comparing Kostka's Finnish league points to CHL players is silly.

I see Tkachuk as a sure fire top 6 forward and likely a first line winger. I hated his father and now I can't stand his brother but the Habs sure could use someone with that combination of skill and edge to their game. We have been too easy to play against for too long. If Ottawa gets him, man are we ever going to hate that SOB!
That what I was saying above. I value others above Tkachuk but I wouldn't at all be mad or upset if we drafted him at 3. At least not as much as the people on this thread. I also agree about the numbers comparison thing because NCAA and CHL are totally different. People highlight that Tkachuk only had 8 goals but don't talk about how he hd 23 assists. In my opinion, he is going to score in the NHL regardless. He will get lots of second chance goals and tip ins. Then there is his playmaking which is extremely underrated. I can see him being a 25-35 type player. I know people will say that other prospects have higher potential. I agree with you. But that's no reason to hate on Tkachuk because he is going to be a bit less of a scorer. Tkachuk will affect the game in so much more ways than anyone in the top 10 if you ask me. Whether it has to do with scoring or not. Im not saying I want Tkachuk as much as I do others because I don't but I will still be happy if his name is called at 3OA. If you look at most top 10's there is usually a few busts here and there. I feel like Tkachuk has the worst odds of busting considering the way he plays. If you guys consider a hard working passionate player who will do anything to help his team a bust, then I don't know what else to say to make you think about him differently.

He is a versatile power winger who is very strong on the puck, very physical and very tough to face and his skating is quite fine for his size... you need guy like him in your line-up to go through an entire season and playoffs... habs tried to get one in Mccarron but like we say, best luck next time... I wouldnt be against use a late 2nd or third to get a guy like Tompson if there is one in this draft...

He’s a glorified headshot/blindside artist who is getting exposure because CBC wants to keep viewership for a final that involves two teams we don’t give a shit about. He’s seemingly more effective because he’s on a line with the two best players in the entire playoffs.

The Habs don’t need to waste draft picks on players like that. They don’t have any players with talent.

Tom Wilson is a very strong guy who does all the dirty work on the lines he is on, he is very strong on the puck, a great forechecker, a physical beast and can skate... you dont win with skilled players alone, you need a bit of everything to build a strong line-up.. But, I agree that we shouldnt pass on talent if they fill Timmins criteras...

There's a brigade of posters who will swoop in to question whether Kotkaniemi will be the best player available at 3OA, who simultaneously don't ask the same question about Tkachuk.

...it's weird to me. I don't know what's going on.

Kotkaniemi - YOU DON'T DRAFT FOR NEED BRO

Tkachuk - Man, the habs sure could use a player like Wilson. When's the last time we had a player like Wilson? You don't win with just skill players. You need players like Wilson.

Funny thing is they don't even play the same way. If anyone has actually seen Tkachuk play he's not throwing big hits at all. He just spears people in scrums.

Lol so apparently Tkachuk looks at mock drafts and reads alot of scouting reports about him online.

And during a cover story of the Tkachuk family a couple weeks ago, his mom, who's subscribed to the Athletic, mentioned a lower than usual rating of Brady and asked the interviewer who wrote that. Brady immediately answered "Probably Pronman".

Arpon Basu asked him about this at the combine and he said the 9th overall rating still bothered him (Pronman initially had him 15 in his mid-season).

Heart surgery for Kaut. But apparently it's ''minor'' and ''doesn't put his career in jeopardy.''

....

K.

Probably abdormal rythm. Relatively common at that age and easy to rectify. They call it surgery, but basically its a minor procedure if nothing goes wrong. Thats my guess.

McCavoy had the same procedure done this year.

What do they do? How much time do they miss?

They insert a small catheter into a patients vein and up to the heart, where they proceed with an ablation of the area at fault (in non medical terms, you could say its burning a short circuit causing the palpitations).

Its usually 3 days rest from physical activity, but around 2 weeks for athletes.

You can never say for sure until they officially tell us, but: young athlete, fortuitous finding which happened during strenous efforts and corrected by a minor procedure, I'd be surprised if it was anything else.

What was the condition that Cherepanov had?

The problem most people have with Tkachuk is that he has demonstrated that he can be a high end complimentary player. When he has a high end centre he produces well... Like at the wjhc. But when he doesn't he gets out produced by another draft eligible defensemen.... Like in the NCAA. The problem allot of us have with picking a high end complimentary player at third overall is that we have nobody for him to complement. That's why you are seeing so much support for guys like Kotkaniemi, Dobson, Boqvist, Hughes ect. They are at least as talented and play more valuable positions and are play drivers.

I would love to see Brady Tkachuk on the Habs. Just as, I'm sure, Flames fans love having Matthew on their team. Even so, they know their top 2 forwards are Gaudreau and Monahan.

The Habs are in a position to draft a top line talent. They can't pass that up for 2nd line player, or at best, a complementary piece for their top line. Gallagher already fills that role nicely.

I'd be okay with Tkachuk at 4, but I wouldn't pass over Zadina to grab him.

My fear is that Bergy sees the wiring on the wall and interferes with Timmins. I can see Bergy loving Tkachuk, and convincing himself that Tkachuk is what Drouin needs on his wing to make him a legit centre.... With the real motivating factor being self preservation and saving face. Basically I can see Bergy doubling down on stupid rather than admitting fault and rebuilding properly. So I must admit I don't like your percentages..... But I agree with them. :(
