Here's McCagg after the Bergevin interview.

20 points in 31 games, -4. Soooooo productive. We've literally never had a guy be as productive at center for a 30 game period ever before. Especially not recently, and especially not one that we have on the roster. There's literally no other options.

Because Wahlstrom is just a run of the mill top 6er. He has a great shot and the rest of his abilities are overrated. I was really high on him early on and he reall failed to show me anything I really wanted from him in my extensive viewings. Hes not a player that is gonna drive a line, like not even close. Zadina has similar tools and a better motor, both project to be really similar. The only thing Wahlstrom has over Zadina is skating and age, and he rarely uses his skating to beat someone or get to pucks. Hes THE frustating player of this draft. Huge tool box, not much else.

The law of wahlstrom: as the number of games Wahlstrom plays approaches zero, strength of criticism of him approaches infinity.

He’s having a great playoff, I don’t think he’d have these numbers playing in Montreal because of the players he’s playing with but good on him for doing well and being able to keep up with the Ovechkin’s of this world

Reminds me of the Sergachev numbers.

Think this is a warning shot at our management to aquire real talent because we have some good players, they just need to be playing with.....well, good players

Im pretty sure he was hinting at Galchenyuk, who had ppg numbers for 40ish games at C, but yeah, Eller is another good one.

Just saying, if we are wanting a C this year, we better draft one. What I mean is, draft an actual center in Kotkaniemi and not a winger like Tkachuk or even Wahlstrom and hope to convert them into a center.

Of course, need to mention that Kotkaniemi has played a lot of wing this past year...

I was hinting at Galchenyuk who scored about as many goals as Drouin had points during the same span, while being a plus player, and who must never be trusted with the center position. EVER!!!1!1

If someone searches my post history, they'll find that I was okay with trading Eller, and the return we got for him, so I can't really say shit about him doing well now. Lesson learned.

Article about Filip Zadina in La Presse this morning. Love his confidence. To play in this market, you need to be borderline cocky, and that's what Zadina is. The article is French, so for those who don't speak, tough ****........ Kidding :naughty: I just don't have time to translate it, sorry! :thumbu:

I am a bit worried he is going to do a Yakupov. He will likely play in the NHL next year no matter what team drafts him, and his development might stall big time. I think he'll be a good player, but I'm willing to bet at least one of the other guys we are all talking about will be better.

What I find interesting in both those Vancouver videos is that they are talking about position and development path. It totally makes sense, but the mantra is always bpa.

well , i agree that he won't be a scorer in the NHL if he doesn't work on his shot . But Beaulieu's always been a Prima Donna and never worked hard to be better . I don't think that Veleno is comparable to him

You talking about Beaulieu pre draft or after draft? I just think Veleno has all the tools to be very good but he has not broken out yet. There are a lot of prospects like him over the years. What he does in the future is anybodies guess.

Tough to not like Zadina after reading that. Kid has the right mentality to be the best player he can be. And he's very correct in saying how he was the best player on the ice when he went toe to toe with Svechnikov both times (WJC and Top Prospects Game). I love that he took it upon himself to elevate his game and show that he was better- and then went on and did it.

He’s not a stupid player like Yakupov. Yak never had any idea how to play the game of hockey. He’s just a good skater with a nice shot but completely lost otherwise.

Very good interview from Zadina, self confidence is something very important for someone who wants to be a superstar.

I will not lie, I think Svechnikov is a better prospect by a very considerable margin (as is the consensus) and I put him in a place alone behind Dahlin in this draft, but lately I have liked what I have seen from Zadina and I think it will be a very special player in the league.

Super cocky Zadina. I like the part where he says how motivated he was to face Svech, especially when Svech was anointed as the 2nd OA projected choice by the media. Zadina says he was better than Svech every time he faced him.

No one ever labeled Yakupov as a prospect that was completely lost pre draft. No one.

Yeah it’s easy to look good when he dominated the OHL. But then you realize he doesn’t adapt at all and doesn’t understand basic concepts. That isn’t Zadina. They aren’t comparable at all. Zadina already plays a pro game. His production comes from knowing where to go ahead of the play, or with great puck protection. Yak never did that, all he did was chase the puck everywhere like a dog chasing a ball.
