I'm still waiting for Michael McCarron to be a great skater for us.

I don't see how that's relevant tbh as I've never argued he would be nor is the fact the some players don't improve their skating enough somehow means that others do not. That's why finding and discussing the reasons why is so pertinent.

But then again, we've discussed Vilardi before, a player who you think is a cut above Borgstrom as a prospect and who you also think is not that bad of a skater.

So, your stance here is strange to say the least.

North American player vs. European

Zadina is a very well rounded player but lets not act like he is flawless. His playmaking is defnitely not 2nd to none. That is probably his weakest point.

His skating is average to slightly above average. Not an issue but not a strength.

I have no issue with Zadina and I think he will be a great player. I wouldnt have an issue with him at our pick but he wouldnt personally be my pick. After Dahlin and Svech, I think any of Zadina, Wahlstrom, Boqvist, Kotkaniemi, Dobson, Hughes or Smith are good picks. Just not Bouchard or Tkachuk.

I don't think his play making is his weakest point. It's very underrated.

Just a little NHL Draft talk on who the Canadiens could realistically take at third overall this year. Enjoy!

2018 NHL Draft: Who will the Montreal Canadiens select?
Good read.....wow, didn’t realize that Carolina has not selected a Russian in 12yrs. With the Necas/Zadina history, it’s not out of the realm to think that Carolina would select Zadina and leave us Svechnikov.

What a gift that would be. Either way, we come out winners here!!

Would it be fair to describe Dobson as a Ryan McDo with the potential for better offensive numbers due to a bit better skill set ?

Barkovs skating was considered a big weakness for him, basically the only real weakness for him.

He worked on it and later hired a figure skating coach, today he's a beautiful skater with strong stride.
Tough to get off the puck.

If they are so worried on Kotkaniemis skating do the same thing for him.

I don't see the Pietrangelo comparison for Dobson. Pietrangelo seldoms skates it out or up like Dobson does, literally every shift ever. Suter is a better "high-end" comparable.

I think he plays a lot like Tyler Myers. Obviously he's not 6'8", but he has some similar qualities and strengths- size, skating, puck protection, etc
A smaller but more talended Myers, I could live with that comparison...

I've decided Myers is my go-to comparable

Yeah he plays a bit like Myers did in Junior. Myers was an absolute octopus though... he was AMAZING defensively... much better than Dobson in that regard. Dobson has better offensive tools than Myers did though...
