Is this the tectonic shift we were all waiting for? Are we hopping from the Hughes bandwagon back to Kotkaniemi?!!!!

Flavor of the week getting an early brewing.

I like Hughes but you really have to buy into the NHL shifting towards a player of his stature and skillset as imperative to team success, because we already know 6’2 two-way centres are central to team success and have been for years.

He also has Farabee at #27 !!!

It's a good list with a good write-ups ... he has obviously done his homework.... but there are some great lists on hfboards too ... and in this thread!!

I'm still waiting for one of you geniuses to write up a top 50 with descriptions!!
It’s a nice list indeed and I respect the fact that he made his list without following all the other scouting services, but Dobson and Bouchard outside the top 15 is preposterous...

He has two lowkey russian prospects (Marchenko and Ishakov) and Bode Wilde in front of them, while saying that the russians are boom-or-bust and that Wilde makes a lot of puzzling decisions. Then he says that Dobson and Bouchard are great... If they’re so great, shouldn’t they at least be ranked before the russian boom-or-busts or the big D with questionable hockey IQ?

If you're small with skill.. Pronman will put you in his top 30. He had Bracco unreasonably high, IIRC

And they for sure stay central to team success. 6'2 or not i just want a C, Ds are worth less than Cs imo.

My problem is that I rely too much on what is being said in this thread, cause I don't feel like buying paying subscriptions and guides.

And now, I'm going bat**** as every week, I see a different player being favored by our panel of experts, for the 3rd OA. You scoundrels.
I dont think we change that much. Boqvist and Kotkaniemi have been my go tos since like febuary now, maybe March for Kotkaniemi.

Boqvist, Zadina, Hughes, Dobson, Kotkaniemi, Tkachuk and Wahlstrom are pretty much the only names Ive heard.

SDA got the moves like Jagger, the mind like Einstein, the body of a manlet and the age of a Belieber.

He wasn't listed in Bob's last top 80. I'm really interested to see where he ends up on his final list. We might be able to take him really deep into the draft.

I wouldn't be surprised if he still remains unrated.

I don't think many people are going to have seen a whole lot of him.. watching a Peterborough game when they aren't on the ice is like trying to fit gravel into your urethra, it's no fun and it's painful on many levels.

A Point/Cale Fleury situation (not comparing the level of these two prospects, btw), where a good prospect is going later than they should because of being on an awful team.

I took Gogolev in back to back Mocks on here.. once for Calgary IIRC and once for Ottawa.. and he's another one to keep an eye on.

The 3 russians line was some of the most entertaining OHL hockey I've watched all year.

First line C's and 1st pairing D have comparative values.
Where it breaks down is I think that a good 2C is more valuable than a 2nd pairing D.
Since 2000 the Habs drafted 3 number one D, maybe two, and they traded for one, they got no Cs. Looking around the league 1Cs seems to be a lot more rare than 1Ds or first pairing Ds/1A1B types.

On ice value? I guess its close, but ina vacuum a guy like Petry or a guy like Schmitd can get the puck up ice to your 1C as much as a guy like Hedman or Subban, I think. Or at least statistically its not a great difference. Meanwhile youd need an absolute monster on D to produce even close to the offensive value a 1C provides to your team.

Then dont :)

Pvr them and fast forward to shifts. I hate seeing worthless players or wtv. Or players that are out of our reach or consensus number one borderline generational ones like Dahlin.

I try to use it as an opportunity to watch the players on the visiting team. It just sucks when Peterborough gets the puck... Therrien puck without NHL level talent grinding away.

Also, Declan Chisholm is all kinds of awful

Bergeron? Simmer down now... Danault is probably a realistic projection, he doesn't and will never have Bergeron's offense, or defense for that matter.

Never say never and I said his potential is in the middle of Danault and Bergeron. He could disappoint but he could also surprise even more in the next 12 months

Combo of Size/Skating/Skill matters at both #1C and top paring D. Not many top paring D man below 6’-0”. There are some but not many.

I rather go after the big kids with skating and skill vs the smaller size kids. I think there is a good chance Dobson, Wahlstrom and Thachuk go before Boqvist and Hughes.

Boqvist is 5'11".. makes no sense to go after a worse player because hes average in height.

I like Boqvist and I think he is the same size as Karlsson but I think I like Dobson more. I value the two way defenseman who can also play a shutdown role and not get pushed around. Guys like Karlsson are very rare!
