Could be. I think he'll be in the show for the 19-20 season. Don't think it takes him until the 2022-2023 season to really figure things out.
Well if you think the idea that he'll take 4-5 years to reach #1C status is a laugh, that means you think he'll be a #1 by the age of 20. That's a mighty steep projection curve your predicting...

It depends on the definition of a #1 we're using. If we're saying he'll be present day Tavares by 20, then yeah, that's an unreasonably steep development curve. If we're saying he'll be a 60 pt 18 minute per night center by the time he's 20, it's decidedly less unreasonable.

Jesperi has one thing he needs to fix. Either that happens soon, or probably not very much at all. The good thing is that it's already improved, and in the middle of a pro schedule. One wild-card he has going for him, if he decides to make use of it, is a really long off-season. The last game of pro-hockey he played was 2 months ago. Even with the early start to the season in Finland, he'll have 5 solid months of getting bigger, stronger, faster, and working on individual skill development. I expect him to look night and day to start next season. He'll be Pori's 1C and challenge for the Liiga U19 scoring record (held by Pulkkinen).

I sincerely hope you’re just trolling here...

If he's trolling, I'm likely the intended target lol.

It is true though, in a sense. Nobody ever calls Phillip Danault one dimensional, even though he is. If that dimension is defence, you'll never be criticized. Only offensive players are ever called one dimensional. Everyone else is ''two way.''

Yeah I get what he’s saying because some call guys like Alzner, Benn, and Emelin Defence-first guys when in reality they are Bad-at-hockey-first guys. Regardless, there is still such a thing as guys that are offense first that suck defensively (shattenkirk) as well as the opposite (Scandella), and guys more in between (Weber, Keith)

If Kotkaniemi has serious #1C potential then sign me up, going nowhere with wingers.

Even if he ends up a solid two way second line center I would probably still draft him ahead of a winger.

I worry about this. If he turns out to be a solid second line center, it's a failure in my opinion. Second line center can be found in the second rd and we are giving up a sniper at 3 that is also in need.

Going nowhere with snipers man, look at Pacioretty! Everybody around here want to get rid of him...

You understand! I like Dobson more than Hughes and Boqvist. Why? Cause I think he is a complete defenseman who can shut you down in his own end and also burn you on the offensive end.

There is a wide variety of what people mean by 2nd line center. Malkin and Barzal were 2nd line centers last year but our 2nd line center was who? I don't think Kotkaniemi turns into a Danault type 2nd line center.

Before this year, Trochek was a 2nd line center. It's pretty obvious now that we'd be lucky to have him as our first line center, though.

Shut out 10 or 11 times this year. If you dont score you dont win. Reaching for the best center in an overall weak draft for centers makes me nervous

Wingers are rarely game breakers, you can have the best wingers in the world but if you don't have solid centers they will struggle to score goals.

A good center can elevate his wingers but rarely you'll see a winger elevate his center.

Yes Malkin and Brazal are 2nd line centers but they are behind elite 1st line centers. The habs have neither.
Draft depth centers in the 2nd round this year and get the 1st center in next years draft is a more logical approach in my opinion.
