I’ll preface this by saying I’m not suggesting the Habs should do this, just genuinely interested in what the perceived value is;

3rd overall for 11th and 12th. Interesting concept, however I think the Islanders need to add. Would be very worth it if Kotkaniemi were left at 11 but that seems highly unlikely now.

So essentially:
Zadina for

Two of Ty Smith, Veleno, Kotkaniemi, Kupari, Tkachuk, Farabee, Hayton, Wilde, etc?

If we want Svech and he goes 2nd, I'd be willing to do this but I'd ask a bit more, like the NYI's 2nd pick too.

They have four 2nd round picks. There’s no need to trade from a potential great offensive player for two lesser players at 11 and 12. You can find similar value in the 2nd.

Zadina. Pick the best player and use other means to fill the roster in order to build a true contender. They always say that the team that gets the best player always wins the trade. Also true in this case.

One player has recently sky rocketed my list. Noah Dobson I'm still shocked that he is listed outside the top 5 in almost any list.

Absolutely.

He's one of the most talented players in the draft and he's a really smart player out there. He is very, very tiny but when you have as many picks as we do, you need to gamble on a pure talent like that.
We did with Reway, didn’t work....maybe it would with this guy.....

I mean I am happy that we moved up because we are more than likely avoiding Tkachuk. And to be honest, I don't even think it is guaranteed that we draft Zadina. It is pretty likely, but I would not be surprised whatsoever if we get Dobson instead.
I’d be very surprised......we are drafting Zadina, assuming Carolina takes Svechnikov

I don't think it "didn't work" with Reway. I think it was well on its way to working, he just got a disease that he hasn't been able to come back from and really hurt his development.

Also, Reway had some drug/attitude problems which doesn't appear to be the case with Ruslan.

It's really unfortunate what happened to Reway.

1st time here.

Is there any talk of Habs trying to trade out of 3 for the 11,12 picks from the Islanders?
Hate to lose out on Zadina but having 6 picks in first 2 rounds could go a long way to filling needs!

What if we can get EDM 10th OA pick for Pacioretty, and then we swap like other suggested here the 3 OA for 11th and 12th? Three picks in a row, we are guaranteed to draft one of Veleno or Kotkaniemi and two of Bouchard, Hugues, Smith or Dobson.

My target if we trade down is Detroit. They are in a good range and they have many amunition with all their picks.

Do you think 3rd OA + 38th OA for 6th OA + 29th OA is realistic/possible? Just wondering, I cant value the picks all that well because I dont really know the prospects

What you suggested would be a great deal for Detroit. Not much difference between 29th and 38th in term of talent.

I was thinking 3rd overall for 6th overall + 33rd or 36th

The 3 pick is s different tier in my view. We certainly would not have to add the 38th, more like Detroit adding another 2nd.

The price to move up in the top 10, historically has been the trading up teams 2nd rounder, which is a high 2nd round pick.

Looks like the Wings are after Bouchard, so I don't think they are a team looking to move up. I think Ottawa stays at 4 and takes whoever we don't take. The Rangers may actually be the most logical target, they loaded up on Cs last draft with Andersson and Chytil, they could use some talent on the wings in their organization.

I haven't seen a single mainstream scout or scouting service have him in the top 5. I suppose that may change with a few left that haven't posted their final rankings.

If Pietrangelo and Suter's are #1s, then Dobson can be.

Bouchard's skating in this league is more likely to be a hindrance to him being a #1
Skating is overrated, especially when you're as smart as Bouchard and you have the type of shot he has.

Dobson is toolsy, and smart, but he's not an offensive Dman, not close to Suter and certainly not to Pietrangelo.

Skating is not overrated, it's one of the most important aspects in the NHL right now. Especially as a minute eating defenseman. You have to have quick feet, to pivot and rush up and back the ice to create chances and cut them down.

Dobson is better than Bouchard.
