I don't think they'd let him play with a broken hand buddy. Im sure it was healed by then. Also, thats a bad argument because the best of the best usually score with the smallest amount of ice time and Svechnikov didn't. How strange.:sarcasm:

Yeah, hence why I said "coming off" a broken hand. One that forces an 8 week layoff in a season and takes time to adjust to, especially for goal scoring. Or do you think its pure coincidence there was a drop in his goal scoring coming off that layoff ?

You realize one of our very own players went from a 30 goal pace, down to under a 20 goal one, back to a 30 goal pace after... Well, guess which injury ?

Btw, Svech was ppg on the fourth line.

Im sorry for calling you negative maybe that was a bit harsh but as much as im bummed out about not getting Svech(hypothetically), We should be grateful that we have 3OA and can pick Zadina who his IMO closer to Svech then the other prospects are to Zad. Sorry for using your name, I just feel like everything on here is super negative and no one is grateful for what we do have.
I mean I am happy that we moved up because we are more than likely avoiding Tkachuk. And to be honest, I don't even think it is guaranteed that we draft Zadina. It is pretty likely, but I would not be surprised whatsoever if we get Dobson instead.

I don't think anyone really has the ability to tell another person how to feel.

I think anyone is within their rights after the season we had, with Bergevin coming back, to feel bummed out that in the end we are likely going to end up with a winger. We get a nice player but Zadina on his own doesn't really move the needle much in terms of what we need in the future to be a competitor. We are still gonna need two top 6 C's and two top D's. We already have good young wingers on the squad. I'd rather trade down and grab Dobson or Boqvist or Kotkaniemi.

The fact that you think Zadina greatly outplayed Svechnikov at the WJC and TPG literally shows how there isn't an argument in any other way. Zadina(who was insanely impressive) had 8 points in 7 games. Svechnikov(who had 4th line minutes and never had the same opportunity as Zadina) had 5 points in 5 games. TPG is ONE game, not sure how you can put that much value in it...
I hope we do get Svechnikov. Carolina was the ABSOLUTE best team that could have gotten 2nd because of Necas and Zadina at the WJC. I legitimately think Canes pick Zad.

This. THAT BEING SAID, if we trade Pacioretty to the Oilers for the 10th overall, come out of the draft with Zadina and Kotkaniemi, I will be doing back flips.

I also would love Kotkaniemi but I'd rather trade up.

I am sure a Necas-Svechnikov duo is more enticing to them instead of Necas-Zadina. Who knows, maybe Dudley and the scouting staff do take Zadina or Tkachuk. It will be a colossal mistake in my opinion.

I just don't think it's realistic to expect an idiot like Bergevins who's trying to save his job. Which can only be done by making the playoffs this year to trade Pacioretty for anything less than a roster player.

Well when the Oilers gm is a bigger idiot, it is definitely possible.

I think folks are really under rating this draft class at the top. How many years have we seen guys do what Zadina, Hughes, and Tkachuk have done internationally in their draft years? And they aren't even the top 2 guys...

I just don't see him taking a pick. He's much more likely to try to get RNH for Patches than the pick. If you were about to get fired from your job, do you make the move that brings in value now or the one that does in 3 years? It's why Molson keeping MB is the biggest mistake of all.

What I'm saying is that there could certainly be a trade involving a roster player along with the 1st. Chia is definitely dumb enough to do that, and he is just as desperate as Bergevin if not more imo.

Yeah but Molson's main goal is to make the fans happy and I can say this on behalf of all of us, no one will be happy if another trade to make a 'quick fix' is made because we all know how those turn out.

Lenni Killinen is an interesting prospect. I don't think he amounts to much, but he has pretty solid stats. Maybe a late round gamble?

Here's how I see the draft and what I'd like to happen:

Top 2 should absolutely be Dahlin followed by Svechnikov. After that, Boqvist, Zadina, Wahlstrom, Hughes, Dobson and Kotkaniemi are all very similar caliber prospects. Furthermore, the 20-50/60 range in this draft is very strong, and relatively interchangeable, so I'd like Montreal to trade down to 6 or 7 and get Kotkaniemi/Dobson/Boqvist along with an early second round pick to really improve our chances at getting multiple quality pieces in this draft.

I never thought Habs fans would be so pessimistic. I've been on here for like 3 days and the community on here is so toxic.

And we're in the off season. Imagine how it was when the habs were losing all their games at the beginning of the season...

I disagree 100% with what you mention as Molson's main goal. I don't think he gives a rat's ass about how happy the fans are. His main goal is to make the most money possible on his investment. Happy fans be damned...

What about centres in the second round ?

Drury? Olofsson?

I like Drury, McShane, Wise, O'Brien, Foudy.
There are also a couple Russian centres in this draft that will go in the 2nd round that have high upside if you're willing to take the risk.

A whole lot of crying because people want to compare Zadina to Kucherov and Tarasenko when there is nothing similar about their games except goal scoring instincts.

Zadina isn't a play driver. He's a sniper. As Therrien would say, "**** off an accept it". If you don't believe me, watch his junior games. His Islanders series really emphasized how tough it can be for him if his line mates aren't able to help him out and set him up.

But you love Wahlstrom and he’s never driven a play in his life.

I get if people don’t have Zadina at 3, it’s fine. If you prefer Boqvist, Kotkaniemi. But there’s really nothing that Wahlstrom has shown that makes me think he’s better than Zadina. They are both snipers but one actually drives the net and backchecks.

Maybe I’m missing something.

No, you're not. Wahlstrom is not a better prospect than Zadina. There's no way I'll consider a forward prospect who needs PP time to shine and to have a true impact on a game to be worthy of a top-3 pick. With Wahlstrom, from all I've seen, it's a regular occurence. He's just not a big threat at even strength play. He needs space and when he doesn't have it, he disappears.

Doesn't mean it can't improve, but Zadina meanwhile has already proven to be a very good point-getter at 5 vs. 5.
