Luleå tie the game with 1 minute to go after being down 3-1! Seconds away from going to overtime at Norrbotten Arena

Watching Nils Lundkvist play, it it is clear to me he's our best D-prospect. Not only does he create offense at this high level, he is incredibly strong on the boards and defends really well in the SHL semi-finals against Frölunda, a top-team in Europe.

At the moment Rykov is better so I’m guessing you’re adjusting for the age difference and more room for development. In this case Miller has even more room and better physical attributes. So the best RD prospects and one of the best overall for me.

Correct.

And I just value pro performance over college performance when judging players. To me, it's a more reliable way when looking at comparables. But, that's not saying Miller is worse than Lundkvist, just that I like Lundkvist more as a prospect and, to me at least, that he has the best chance to reach the highest level (top-pair D). I would be thrilled if both get there though

Miller will become like Pronger and Lundkvist will be EK.

It's his defensive game that is most impressive though. The way he ties up guys like Lasch, Lundqvist, Fagemo and Hjalmarsson on different shifts in today's game is crazy for an 18-year old kid.

On defense specifically, I have to say that Lundkvist even at this level needs to get better in gap control in one-on-one open ice defense.

Agreed. I am really looking forward to next season, seeing him on smaller ice. They qualified for the CHL, and if they play against a top-team from the Czech Rep, it is intersting to see how he does.

At the u20 Four Nations he was much better at it (again, smaller rink). He just seems to be made for North American hockey

AK. Who does he remind you of so I can get a feeling for him. I’m excited about him as well. I’ve read some good things about Soderstrom a RD who may go around 10th overall this draft. I almost think we should select him. But there are some dynamic forwards available.

It's difficult to compare him with players from other eras, but I Tomáš Kaberle is a player he reminds me of.

Wanted Sandin but how can you complain with what Nils has been doing ?!

Let’s see what Luleå can do in the series.

Luleå was originally a classic industry city based around the steel plant. SSAB (Swedish Steel Ltd) pushed money into the team and the workers loved the team. It got better and better slowly but surely and eventually won the gold in 1996. Around those years the team was at the top of the SHL for many years.

But the industry got smaller and HQ moves to the south, the team started to become worse and worse. Sometimes a fan base kind of loses its momentum.

Then a few years ago a die hard Luleå fan decided to sell his life creation (the Minecraft game) and got a neat 2.7 Billion USD for it. Of course he pushed some coffee money into Luleå. They went for Gold with several pricy acquisitions but it didn’t work out.

Now they are on the backend of that, and don’t reallt should have the resources to compete. But they have done well.
