Burrows on unconditional waivers...
So if Juolevi and Hughes makes the team, there is a massive log jam of defenceman.

Hughes should not be in the NHL this year.
Juolevi needs to be good enough to make the NHL next year and if he doesn't that's a huge red flag.
You do realize Benning is our GM don't you??????Burrows, Nash, Hamhuis would be great.
Sell Nash, Pouliot, Hutton, Sutter/Gagner towards the deadline for picks.
Agreed. Much as I am excited to see Hughes, I think giving him 1 more season in the NCAA will be to his benefit.
And Juolevi should absolutely be able to come into camp and prove himself worthier than some of the assorted lesser thans that we have on the back end. If not, it'll be very disappointing - and I say that as a Juolevi supporter.

Same here, but on a 2 year deal I'd be game. It buys Gaudette time to develop next year in Utica.A Riley Nash deal screams Sam Gagner contract 2.0 to me.
I don't like bringing in Burrows for the full year- though I do like him retiring a Canuck. I'd be open to a PTO to help mentor just in the short term during pre-season. Maybe give him the last home game to play in only and let him announce his retirement on ice after the game is over.+1 to the idea of Burrows. Even if we acquire him as a part-time forward, it would be nice for him to retire a Canuck and he'd be a great role model for some of the kids.
I like that Nash wants to be here, but his numbers last year were a big outlier from everything he has done in his career to date. I'd be a bit wary of too much money and term. And really, Sam Gagner should be someone we can use at center - it's what he was signed for, and we have 2 more seasons of him so might as well put him to use if we aren't buying him out or trading him.
Is it really a 'log jam' when over half of them suck and wouldn't be out of place in the AHL?
Pedan went to the KHL, essentially it’s Pouliot for a 4th. I like that deal.
Except he is soft as butter along the boards, not a good a skater, and doesn't have the skill to make up for any of his weaknesses unless he is heavily sheltered like he was in Columbus. He is not a good fit for this team. I'd most definitely prefer Riley Nash as he's far more versatile and can help the awful pk.+1 to the idea of Burrows. Its a sad reality.Hey, I agree on all counts...it's just too bad the Canucks don't. And if we're stuck with Gagner, we might as well try him at center.
I'd love to sign Nash (to a reasonable deal) and get rid of Gagner, but I think he's here for the duration of his contract.
I'd sign him and give him the C. Buys Horvat a year of not having to answer for the failures of a dog**** team. Play Burr in 40% of the games like Edmonton did with Andrew Ference.
I think the game has probably passed Burr. Ironically, he'd be blocking a roster spot from a guy like Jonathan Dahlen should Burrows sign here. Or Burr wouldn't earn a spot and we'd waive him and that'd also be a huge bummer.
I'd love to get him into a front office role right away though. He's always brought great insight when interviewed and caught things others missed, it's why he meshed with the Sedins so well. He's a great hockey mind and he's expressed interest in a management position post-playing career before.
