Baertschi Horvat Boeser
Goldobin Granlund Pettersson
Leipsic Sutter Virtanen
Gagner Beagle Eriksson
Gaunce

I guess Gaudette start in the minor? I mean they can easily wave Granlund or Gaunce and not sweat a bit if the get claimed

You'll need to drop one of Goldobin/Pettersson/Virtanen to make room for Reeves.

Did we sign him for $7.5MM? My point is we could sign him for $1MM and MS would complain.

Not at all. People complain when Benning does stupid things, like 3 years for a 33 year old Jay Beagle at $2.5M. Benning does a lot of stupid things which is why the smart people complain about him a lot. There is a correlation.

Hopefully the Beagle rumours are true he can be a important part of our team for a couple a years and trade him for assets but by that time more likely will be competitive for playoffs so he brings his cup experience which is actually pretty cool SO long is not more then $3 mill per season

As for Reaves hes cleaned up his game from back in his dirty days i guess not my number one choice but we will see what he can bring IF these rumours ARE true

Everyone knows you will complain no matter who is signed. For future reference, what signings/ term will you not complain about?

I won't complain about signings that don't suck.

They've been liked to Tobias Rieder and if they sign him I'll be very complimentary. If they signed a Calvin De Haan on reasonable money/term I'd be complimentary.

Signing old, overpaid 4th liners who are going to be buyout crap - no, I'm not going to compliment that. And neither should anyone else.

My guess is they add Patrick Maroon, decent player who knows how to chip in some pts with skill players on his side
But then again, that's alot of forwards, are they planning to send both Gaudette and Pettersson down to the minor ?

No, but there's a rumor from a very legitimate insider. He hasn't complained about the few decent signings Benning has made, but you clearly have an agenda so you wouldn't know.

Can this management group keep signing mediocre players to terrible deals that eventually get them fired but not mismanage so badly they completely hamstring their successors? Dare to dream. Stay tuned...

ayyy lmao

Yup. We all called this.

$5 million/year down the drain on 4th liners that do nothing to improve the team.

"but he's learning"

I don't think his stupid, simple mind can process anything beyond the most recent hockey that he watched.

To sit here and watch the way that Vegas and Washington were built and played and have the takeaway that we need their over-30 4th liners is just ... amazing.

The question now becomes where the offensive production past the Horvat is supposed to come from.. Sutter and Beagle aren't exactly the guys you want in the offensive zone nor are they the guys you want to put a prospect like Pettersson with. Gaudette certainly shouldn't be expected to produce right away either and I expect a Horvat style growth from him.

Putting guys like Goldobin, Dahlen, Virtanen, Pettersson or whoever else with Sutter or Beagle isn't exactly good for offensive production and that's what gives me a gut feeling they're trying to find a center via trade.

You're absolutely right about the question regarding offensive production.

I'm also getting a gut feeling, but mine is less pleasant than yours.

Also, why shouldn't Gaudette be expected to come in and produce right away? The last 4 Hobey Baker winners before him did. A guy like Kerfoot did.

The guy is 22. Guys who are going to make it come in at his age and play. If he comes into camp and struggles, fine, stick Gagner there. But the expectation should be that it's likely this player can come in and produce in soft 2nd line minutes.

Again, it's like everyone - the organization and fans - is in love with listing off names in the prospect pool but absolutely terrified about assigning any actual expectations to them or putting them on the actual roster.

Oh I definitely have a unpleasant feeling considering the trades they've made previously. I just can't get past the idea they'll add a center before the offseason is over.

If he's demanding 3 years term, they should looking somewhere else. Brodziak and Richardson were both ~52% in the dot and played a similar role on the PK.
I didn't look up Brodziak's numbers nor Richardsons. But yes you are right in that regard that the drop off for faceoffs isn't as big of a swing as I thought it would be. I think we are on the same page then, I have no problem with bringing Beagle in as the player- it's the 3 year term that is not good. 2 years would have been perfect.

I think so too- hopefully no more than 2 years but 3 is stomachable. Gaudette and Dahlen I think will be the first callups but Petersson basically has to play his way off of the team at this point. Gaunce and Motte can be waived and no one cares. Without adding a 2C and adding Maroon and Beagle my guess would be:
Baertschi-Horvat-Boeser
Eriksson-Gagner-Petersson
Maroon-Sutter-Granlund
Leipsic/Goldobin-Beagle-Virtanen

If it's being reported by the top media in the industry then that's likely what's going to happen. Remember that the new rules is that every team is free to speak with UFA's one week before signings open, so while nothing's confirmed until they've signed on the dotted line it's likely that the negotiations have already been exhausted and the Canucks have the best offer.

Gotta love that $12M 4th line.

**** you guys are such complainers. Wait to see the term and money at least. He’s a great signing, best 4C in the league and can step into 3C if needed. Great leader and locker room guy and he’s big.
Beagle at 2.5 is fine, reaves would be nice also, but dont wanna overpay 2 much

Final thought, normally I wont mind having Beagle, Reaves and Moroon on the bottom 6
But with the amount of forwards under contract now, having more than one of those three make little sense
