Some of ya’ll need to stop underrating Miller
Love Kravstov but **** man, Miller showed us that his upside is limitless.
I love Miller, and was talking about him on here before he was our pick as a guy who had a lot of tools and who was seen by some scouts as a potential top 10 prospect in the NHL Draft.
Having said that, I am a little concerned that he’s becoming the new guy that this board straps the rocket ship to and then comes down harder on when there’s more work to be done than some thought.
Miller has a GREAT D+1 season. He continues to progress and learn and grow. In other words he’s doing everything you want to see a prospect do.
But there’s still a lot of work to be done with reads, decision making, and other areas. Miller is a freak athlete and right now that allows him to mask areas of his game that don’t show up so readily in a box score.
He’s got high potential, but I don’t know if we’re talking about some of the names that people have thrown around out here, nor do I know if people understand that the number of moving parts that still require a lot to fall into place in order for him to be that elite guy they are hoping for.
The talent is there, but I feel like we’re adding to the expectations here and there, and at some point it does become unfair for Miller - not unlike so many other prospects who eventually reach a wider viewing audience and have their imperfections more easily visible.
When we talk about Miller being the number four prospect, it’s worth knowing that it isn’t an insult. For perspective, consider that the three guys ahead of him are all playing against
MEN in professional settings. Also consider that two of those guys are, or will be, top 10 picks. The third, is a goalie who is 4 and a half years older and is widely considered to be one of two names in contention for
THE best goalie in the world, outside the NHL.
