I love Miller, but Kravstov is an easy #1 until Kakko happens. Miller's ceiling is higher, but Kravstov has a pretty significant one as well and he's more likely to hit it.

Kravstov has kind of gotten overshadowed a bit overall. We need to get excited for not only KK, but VK coming over next year as well.

Prospect camp is going to be f***ing awesome this year. Shame that the NCAA rules are stupid and Miller likely won't be there.

Some of ya’ll need to stop underrating Miller

Love Kravstov but **** man, Miller showed us that his upside is limitless.

I love Miller, and was talking about him on here before he was our pick as a guy who had a lot of tools and who was seen by some scouts as a potential top 10 prospect in the NHL Draft.

Having said that, I am a little concerned that he’s becoming the new guy that this board straps the rocket ship to and then comes down harder on when there’s more work to be done than some thought.

Miller has a GREAT D+1 season. He continues to progress and learn and grow. In other words he’s doing everything you want to see a prospect do.

But there’s still a lot of work to be done with reads, decision making, and other areas. Miller is a freak athlete and right now that allows him to mask areas of his game that don’t show up so readily in a box score.

He’s got high potential, but I don’t know if we’re talking about some of the names that people have thrown around out here, nor do I know if people understand that the number of moving parts that still require a lot to fall into place in order for him to be that elite guy they are hoping for.

The talent is there, but I feel like we’re adding to the expectations here and there, and at some point it does become unfair for Miller - not unlike so many other prospects who eventually reach a wider viewing audience and have their imperfections more easily visible.

When we talk about Miller being the number four prospect, it’s worth knowing that it isn’t an insult. For perspective, consider that the three guys ahead of him are all playing against MEN in professional settings. Also consider that two of those guys are, or will be, top 10 picks. The third, is a goalie who is 4 and a half years older and is widely considered to be one of two names in contention for THE best goalie in the world, outside the NHL.

I think that when all is said and done we might be pointing to this last season as an invaluable learning experience for Pionk, Chytil, Howden, Lias, and Georgiev. I hope so, at least. It's remarkable how much ice the youngsters saw.

If Pionk is on the third pair with less responsibilities, he will look much better.

He’ll look better but he’ll still be bad at the basic things needed to be a good defenseman in the NHL

At this point it’s not just trying to play over his head, he has legitimate issues in his game that will continue to be exploited by more than just top line players

Jesus you guys love sliding Shesty down these rankings...

I get the whole goalie thing, but this kid has literally done just about everything someone his age can do outside the NHL.

And behind Lundkvist? Cmon now.

Hehe, I do think that you can’t really rank goalies vs skaters. Any goalie that makes it instantly becomes a core team player. And all goalies can play at the highest level for a game or stretch of games. Win like a Conn Smyth. Which D can win the Conn Smyth? OTOH, the supply is different. You can find someone like Geo to do the job in a sense too.

But, Shesty has done a lot in Europe. But he has also not quite beaten out any of the goalies he has competed with for SKA. Among others, Magnus Hellberg this season.

The fact that he is prepare to come over and play in the AHL is great though. The talent is there, but he has ways to go.

I was a Pionk supporter at the start of the season and throughout but he didn’t really improve in the areas he’s weakest and that are really hurting his game. Bring young and all is fine but I’d expect to see development I have seen with Pionk yet

I’m not going to say Pionk is some world beater but the guy clearly burned out half way through the season this year. He logged A TON of minutes early in the year in what was pretty much his rookie season. For an undersized guy who plays a pretty physical style based effort, losing half a step due to fatigue could be fatal to his play.

Firing the puck off the boards is considered a first pass?
It's not even that .it's when he's legit trying to pass to guys the passes are almost always way off...and guys either need to stop and grab it, killing their forward momentum...or it's outta their reach leading to a turnover...his passing accuracy is trash.

For all of Dan girardis faults may least he could execute a simple pass when he decided to.

There's definitely some truth to this, and I too feel that as a 3rd pairing guy he's fine...my issue is that's not what he's been used as..and I have serious issues with that...if he's going to be misused I'd rather he be gone.

It's a lot easier to work on fixing the issues with your game when you're playing 15 minutes a game against bottom 6 players instead of 25.

DeAngelo is a similar age and still sucks ass defensively, yet I don't see everyone here thinking he's a lost cause.

I mean, with Pionk, yeah, he really struggled last year. He was asked to do WAY too much and was playing over his head. He shouldn't play 25 minutes, he shouldn't be a primary penalty killer. At the same time, you'd see flashes of some good stuff. He's still young, he's still under contract, so hopefully we can structure the roster next season in a way such that he's playing a much more limited role. I'd like to see what he looks like with, say, 12-14 minutes of 5v5 (maybe a little less) and 2 minutes of 5v4, and that's it. He might be very effective.

That said, while I like the guy, if someone were to make an offer for him that we feel is fair value or better, I could live with moving him. Even if he's effective in the ways I think he can be, he's still somewhat redundant.

I actually think there were small improvements in Pionk's game toward the end of the season. He's probably not a part of the Rangers' future core but he'll have NHL career elsewhere being a 3rd pair D with 2nd PP unit time to get him to 13-15 min/g.

Right side next year. Gorton has to find a taker for Shattenkirk but he can make this happen if he wants too

I wouldn't say no to this for next season or long term with Lundkvist developing to take over one of these spots in a few years.

Pionk is just ok, he has no business being a top 6 D on a decent and healthy club. He’ll wind up a Kampfer or Cledending type....no shame in that
