Any prospects update? Sorry, I don't follow games that are foreign to the NHL much outside of Suzuki.

How would you guys rank our top 5-10 prospects and what do you project them to become?

might as well wait till the playoffs are over to rank the prospects. It's been a good year for the system, better then I thought it would be.

Hillis is the only junior level prospect that didn't do all that good in my book. He was playing much better before his injury so even in his case I'd say it's not alarming just yet. Henrikson and Koberstein I don't count as prospects, they're just technically still ''there'' .

And by all reports (and what I saw with Hillis) his lack of production early on in the season wasn't due to bad play but diminished returns (that likely would have averaged out if he stayed healthy). Truly believe he finishes strong like McShane and Fonstad were able to.

Hillis, Ikonen and Tyszka it sucks that they missed so much time to injury. But McShane, Fonstad I had hoped for more from them, I like that McShane's goal scoring has a nice bump up, so we'll see where he ends up by seasons end but he hasn't even hit last year's points. I'm not a big fan of his game other then his shot and skill level are good. Fonstad just matched his point totals from last year in 7 less games but I had hoped for a breakout year where he was in the 90-100 pt range. I like him but he needs a lot of work in adding mass and strength especially lower body.

Gorniak had a tough year, the good news was that he picked up 5 pts in the last 6 games which was a 1/3 of his overall production at a time when it's toughest to produce. But 15 pts while getting top line and PP for a guy that will turn 20 before next season starts is very concerning. Hopefully he can breakout next year.

Houde's had a little bump in production from a .6 ppg to a .7 ppg but overall still a disappointing season so far although he's picked it up of late but needs to be way more consistent.

Stapley's had a good year, hopefully he can get back for the playoffs and NCAA tourny though, he's only a month younger then Poehling and isn't nearly as impressive but that's to be expected since he's a 7th rounder that was passed over in Poehling's draft.

Olofsson's had a really disappointing year, 9 pts is worse then DLR did in the exact same situation where both were 18 year olds playing in the SHL for the first time.

I thought Hillis when healthy would put up much better numbers so that's disappointing as well.

Where it's been great is Harris, Romanov, Brook. I can't get over how great the year has been for Brook and Romanov. Romanov is a big shocker but I should know better then to doubt Timmins when he drafts a defensemen. Harris may be the biggest surprise if not for Romanov, he plays so much like Mete, using that great skating, mobility, plays with so much poise he never seems to get rattled with the puck. Can't wait to see how much he can progress.

Of course Suzuki being Suzuki and Poehling is so a lock to be a solid NHLer while Primeau was never going to repeat last years numbers he's really coming on at the right time and is still having a very good season after a historic one as a Freshman. Add Ylonen, Fleury, Evans all having good years as well, McNiven showing big improvement, Walford going from 2 goals last year to 9 and looking to force a contract out of the Habs.

There is certainly a lot to like from the farm system. Next year should be interesting as we have most of our top guys hit the pros (NHL and or AHL) and then hopefully guys like McShane, Hillis, Fonstad, Olofsson, breakout, Harris making Team USA would be huge. Ylonen and Ikonen having big years in liiga would be great to see as well. And while it's very early, things seem to be heading in the right direction for Timmins and his staff since the '16 draft so if we can get a few gems from this summers draft as well it would make the system that much better.

So Romanov, Book and Harris are top 4 d-men ? We still need a true number 1 d-man in our system...

I really don't think Suzuki is a "lock" to make the NHL, he still has a lot of work to do with his skating.

I don't know yet. Brook I think he can certainly be a top pairing #1 by the time he's in his prime. I would be shocked if he's not a top 4 D at least.

Romanov I'm not as high on as others, but I have had a tough time with him, maybe one of the toughest i've ever had on getting a read on a non goalie prospect. I just don't know what to make of his offensive game. If he can develop a solid offensive game then he would likely be in the top 4 at some point. If not he would likely make a very good bottom pairing D.

Harris is a tough one as I also have trouble with Mete as I also struggle with his offensive upside. With Harris he's so much like Mete aside from being a little taller. He doesn't shoot much, uses his great skating/mobility to get out of trouble. Has been very impressive in his own end, for a undersized Freshman. So for me it will likely come down to his offensive game, how much mass/strength can he add over the years. He looks like a great bet to be an NHLer at some point but how good is tough to say. I see Mete as a bottom pairing D on a contender, unless he can produce a decent amount of offense so I'd say the same for Harris.

I really don't think Suzuki is a "lock" to make the NHL, he still has a lot of work to do with his skating.

I just said Suzuki being Suzuki, just meaning he's put up a lot of points again. When I said lock for the NHL that was for Poehling only as he is a clear cut lock to be an NHLer although i'm not too worried about Suzuki being an NHLer at some point, just don't know how good he'll be somewhere between average to really good which of course is a very wide range. I don't think he needs a lot of work on his skating, but I do think he needs to get quicker, stronger, add mass.

Jesse Ylönen with 1 assist / -1 / 2 SOG / 12:39 TOI
Season: 52 GP - 13G - 13A - 26 PTS

* KalPa won 5-2 vs. SaiPa, but Ikonen did not play. Still out with a minor injury. He's day-to-day. *

* Timra lost 5-3 to HV71, but Olofsson did not play. I'm not 100% sure if it's injury related or if because he signed with Skelleftea for next season, Timra opted to keep him out of the line-up. I'm inclined to believe it's because he's hurt.

Ikonen has only 1 game left in the season, same for Olofsson so with nothing to really play for, I assume they didn't want to rush them back.

Tyszka with an assist in a 6-5 OT win for Seattle.

As a result of their win, Seattle clinches a playoff spot with 2 games remaining.

And now, every single prospect in the CHL will be in the playoffs.

Yeah but for Josh Brook it won't be very long, they are 0-5 against Saskatoon this year so he might be eliminated by the end of next week.

At least he will be able to play a few games in Laval.....

Wouldn't that required the habs to protect him in the expension draft... if that the case you can be sure he won't see Laval this season.
