Could see Jost having a monster season. He got his taste in the NHL last year and knew what to expect this summer. Made the switch to a new trainer to help prepare for that and the dude looks like he's here to play.

That said, I still dont envision him as a Center in the NHL, especially not if he got stronger this summer at the cost of some mobility. Although I'd say there's a chance he's both faster and stronger this year given the groin injury in October of last year that likely hurt his mobility for most of last year. But still I think his game will be best suited on the wing and I could easily see him develop into a Parise like winger. Relentless on the forecheck, tenacious with the puck, and always in the dirty areas in front of the net to clean up the garbage.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him hit 20 Goals and 50 points this year, especially if he stays on that top PP unit.
I hate to say this but I'd be all for splitting up the big line early and put Landy with Jost . Wouldn't hurt to try as they can reunite the big line anytime

I would guess...

Landeskog-MacKinnon-Rantanen
Kerfoot-Jost-Sven
Nieto-Soderberg-Calvert
Kamenev-Compher-Wilson
ex: Bourque

EJ-Zadorov
Barrie-Nemeth
Cole-Girard

Varly
Grub

Is how I see it ending up.

Are y'all just assuming Jost/Kerfoot won't show well and/or Bednar changes his mind? He just said they're planning on Jost and Kerfoot being on the second line with the RW TBD.

Maybe Kerfoot centers a scoring line , I think the numbering of lines throws peoples perceptions off

Compher was at his best on the 4th line and tbh, I’m not sure he’s any better than that (at the moment).

I think Compher was playing much better when he was playing a bigger role. Using his shot well and scoring goals. The question is can he play at that level more consistently than he did last year? If so he'll see more time in a middle six role.

I thought Compher struggled like crazy last season outside of a few games. Like, he disappeared for months. He played his best hockey of the season when he got placed on that 4th line with Wilson and Bourque.

That's where he needs to be to start this season unless he proves otherwise.

Pokecheque

I’ve been told it’s spelled “Pokecheck”

I feel like Bednar wants to keep Nieto and Soderberg together, and it'll be either Wilson or Compher taking that Comeau spot on the right side.

I still maintain that injuries hampered JTC for big stretches of the year. You could really tell when he had his legs and when he didn't. I really hope he's trying to find ways to cut down on his shot blocking.

Definitely had a very up and down season. I'm very interested to see how he starts the season this year. I'm hopeful that a lot of his struggles can be chalked up to the transition from a very different style of hockey and schedule in NCAA.

The Avs have a few guys like that who I'm very curious to see how they follow up last year. Jost, Kerfoot, Compher, and Kamenev. Next year will be big in determining their career path. Girard too though he's a much safer projection IMO.

Very excited to get the ball rolling. Worst case scenario Avs leave the season with two top 10 picks in a stacked draft, and Mackinnon will certainly be entertaining.

Bednar mentioned Ghetto, Wilson, Kamenev, and Calvert as possibilities for the RW spot with Jost and Kerfoot. Later he brought up Compher as an option as well if he gets moved to wing.

He also said Jost looks quicker out there. Speaking of, good interview with Jost here where he talks about his offseason:
