Sandin was a late scratch.

Is it an injury or just rest? I'm not watching the game tonight. Anyone watching hear anything on the broadcast?

I haven't really watched too much of Rasanen with the Marlies so far. Can anyone that's watched give a scouting report?

Skating has improved a bit, probably AHL average for a D man.
Still throws his weight around and can be a bit nasty.
In the few games I've seen him in since his return he has made some dumb plays, going for the hit and being a bit out of position. Forcing a pass up the ice where the board bank would have been safer.
Overal he looks like a guy who has improved but hasn't played a ton this year. I'm pretty happy where he is, a full summer of working on his skating from now he could be a solid AHL top 4 guy to start next year. My hope is Keefe gives him a ton of PK time and works on that side of his game while with the puck really hammers home the simple easy play. If he does that he could be a really solid add by the end of next year on the 3rd pair RHD.

1 assist for SDA in his ECHL debut. A step below AHL hockey obviously, but nevertheless should be a good introduction for a small player like him to play against grown men for a few games plus the playoffs. Disappointing year for him production-wise, but seems like a prospect that could explode offensively next year (or whither away...)

I'd take an outside bet on Adam Brooks becoming a point-per-game player next year in the AHL. Started slow in the WHL too before taking over.

Brooks is almost at non-prospect level for me in terms of having any NHL significance.

He might just be a Quad A all star

Eh. He's fine, but I'd put his likely ceiling as bottom 6 player. He was drafted as an overager and turns 23 this year. I was a bit harsh saying quad A player, but his stats don't stand out to me at all as an impact NHLer. (I know he had mono last year)

I think he can be a cheap depth option, akin to Trevor Moore, and middle six player in a best case scenario, but asking for anything more is a fools errand. And that's perfectly fine.

Does Brooks project to be a centre at the next level though is the question.

I think he does. He's pretty much played center most of his AHL time so far.

I would not be surprised if he's in the NHL next season at some point.

I would. Assuming Kadri and Nylander are back, who is he taking over as a C.

He can make it as a winger. I doubt it'll be here as a C

Injuries happen and it's not like we'll be able to keep everyone long-term.

Brooks might get a call-up similar to Moore if/when injuries hit and they will go from there.

That's fair. I'm just not a fan of his long term prospects as anything more than filler. he's in the Engvall tier of if it happens, yay, but not banking on him at all, like Bracco.

He can be a really good 4C at least. Maybe he develops into a Derek Ryan type, depending on whether we decide to develop his PK game next year.

Listen, I would love if he turns into a Ryan type. It's just that players like Brooks are more common than we think, so expectations should be adjusted from what they were 2 years ago.
