What does it say about the kings fitness staff that they haven’t been able to fix it in the last year then?
I think that's what Blake's quote about maintenance or whatever he said meant. They probably told him to keep his fitness level up, do these excercises/stretches and he did teenage shit and like tikkanen said his back over compensated for his weak core.

The Kings should shelf Vilardi.

Let him properly rehab his back and get stronger, send him back to JR hockey. Develop him correctly and let the kid grow into a man properly.

Another year in JR+a year in the AHL is not going to hurt Vilardi.

True, no reason to rush a decision. I'd like to see him rehab in LA, though, so his progress is watched closely. Once he's fit, give him a few games. If he's NHL ready he will certainly show it.

I don't think they have much control once Vilardi leaves the team for the summer. If anybody knows how this process works it would help but I believe the team gives each player things to work on and then off they go. Didn't Doughty say he eats Mac N Cheese a lot when he was a rookie/younger Kings player? Eventually you have to stop eating crap, anybody over 30 knows how this works. When you're 20 you can go to Taco Bell and get 5 items and the large Mountain Dew. When you're 30 and you try that you gain 4 pounds and spend about an hour on the porcelain throne.

But what a triumphant hour it is.

Heh, touche. I thought I read somewhere that the Kings kept him around for a bunch of time after he was drafted to work with him, I could be wrong though.

Exactly. For him to have such serious back problems at a young age should be a concern. Let the kid recoup 100% without the pressure of the big league...

What kind of investigation does the NHL need to do? The case is already settled and prosecuted. All the evidence is out there.

Do they want to dig into his recent time in Russia to gauge remorse? If so, the Olympics interview is pretty damning.

Just because the criminal side is done doesn't mean it's settled
Look at this more as the civil side of a case Different rules on what can or can’t be done.
And as much as many think he's already been punished his original suspension was with pay It really punished the team more than him until they finally gave relief

How hard is it to investigate and make a decision on Slava? The NHL should look at the facts available from the criminal case, interview Slava and his wife, talk to some coaches/GMs from the KHL league, and make a decision. It's not like they can go back to the date and time of the incident and review the bloody TV set and sheets. The crime scene is already wrapped up.

Come on now, the NHL is a mom & pop shop with limited resources. You can't expect their lone investigator to jump right on this, it's only been like 6 months since he said he was interested in coming back. You're acting like it's a multi-billion dollar business or something...

Other leagues do this too. Personal/league investigation to further what we already know. Sometimes, even if the criminal case yields no results, the league one finds a suspension, or vice versa. Only reason it maybe feels dragged out is because Voynov left before investigation. Now, I imagine they're going to want to set precedent with the Watson case before Voynov...not that they haven't had ample time to consider Voynov independently.

The only thing is, RJ, most other pro leagues have a by-law/cba agreement in for domestic violence. We would already know what Slava is facing if this were the NFL, say, even with an ongoing investigation.

That Voynov tidbit means there will be a board room meeting with multiple lawyers and PR advisors (at least one of them will be a female) all arguing over how to play this out so the NHL doesn't look bad. They will bow to any and all feminine groups who might raise a stink, every base will be covered. The harsh reality is the NHL could give a crap, they just want this type of stuff to go away as quietly as possible but for any of you who have been involved with lawsuits, divorces, anything involving lawyers it just get dragged on and on needlessly to max out billable hours so they can buy a new Audi R8.

Training camp roster, schedule announced - LA Kings Insider
-There’s no official word yet on Gabe Vilardi. I checked in last week and heard that he’s skating and improving, but from earlier correspondence I’d be skeptical of his immediate availability. It’s always possible that may have changed; his status will be one of the more important stories at the outset of camp. Stay tuned on that front.

I am beginning to hope that the NHL goes all in and bans him, then Voynov sues and gets rich after he call Danny Heatly and Craig Mctavish to the stand.
WTF is wrong with people?
Voynov was a scum and a p***y for hitting his wife & did he allot of really crappy things , but killing people wasn't one of the them.

Yeah, to me they've had more than enough time to start the process. Watson had his case reviewed and concluded in a matter of months since the incident. The Voynov process started before the season ended when wanted to return and now the NHL is just starting their investigation?
