I really wonder what people have been watching if they can't think of any play by Andersson that's impressed them. His skating is lagging, but the skill on the puck, hands in tight, and hockey smarts have all been apparent. He'd have two primary assists if he made that saucer pass to an NHL talent.

Beacon’s ability to analyze prospects jumped the shark years ago.

Andersson is doing a lot of the little things correctly. But he's sometimes forcing things on offense, which will be worked on through experience.

Pretty much the way I see it. Really he reminds me of Toews and Toews doesn't always stick out. The gritty side is there--the subtle little things. At 18 I think he could get by just in a checking role which is saying something. For most young forwards that's an area they really have to work on.

New format should be fun to learn. We only sent down Fontaine and Halverson today. I expect more cuts tomorrow afternoon

Halverson had almost no chance other than an injury to one of the other goalies.

Fontaine--a very good camp but there's a few new players that should be ahead of him.

The big questions are who is going to make it between DeAngelo and Pionk? Will the Rangers move Holden? Are they going to keep either of Chytil or Andersson?

The worst case scenario for the defense to me may still come true.

McDonagh-Shattenkirk will be fun to watch, but I still think that Staal-Holden will still be paired together and deployed as the 2nd pairing and out protecting leads with seconds to go. Skjei-Smith will have a lot of fun shutting down the other teams' 4th line plugs.

I've been reading the opinion that Skjei and Smith didn't have a fantastic preseason when paired together, so I fear for the worst in AV's mind.

Staal - Holden is plain old scary.

I thought Fontaine was better than Nieves, but maybe not enough to be worthy of staying up over the 2nd year pro.

Expect to see him this year.

Did we all see what Brooks speculated on?

He thinks Andersson to Hartford, and Chytil stays with the Rangers.

Sidenote: Can we get a sticky with the new formatting codes for youtube videos and whatnot?

It looks like tweets auto-load if full url is just copy-pasted in, which is nice.

I'm going to be extremely displeased if they sit DeAngelo to start the season. Too high ceiling a prospect to have him rotting.

When you need to play your hot-cold defenseman and your $6M paper weight together on the third pair, you just gotta do it.

I'm interested in seeing how Ruff will handle this blueline.

It's inconceivable that Staal-Holden will still be a thing, given what we all know and have seen.

That said, it's also a near certainty, isn't it?

If you click on "Help" at the bottom it shows you their BB codes.

My tables for prospects will never be the same. :( LOL.

I wouldn't be concerned about losing Kampfer to waivers. If someone pick him up, happy trails.

I hope that if DeAngelo is going to be the 7th defenseman, that he plays at least 50-60 games rotating in and out for when Staal or Holden need to sit. It's a waste otherwise. DeAngelo is still only 21. Young for an offensive defenseman. He needs to be playing minutes and not sitting in the press box.

Letteri has been a very interesting guy to watch this preseason. Said it last night, but I see a bit of Ryan Callahan in him. I wouldn't mind him starting on a line with Deharnais and Grabner to start the year until Fast is back.

Chytil will get his 9 games with the Rangers, but I don't agree with putting him with Buchnevich. Insulate him as much as possible.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Vesey-Hayes-Zuccarello
Nash-Chytil-Miller
Grabner-Deharnais-Letteri
Puempel
Fast (IR)

McDonagh-Shattenkirk
Skjei-Smith
Holden-DeAngelo
Staal

So simple, yet the imbecile behind the bench makes it so difficult

Here's a bit from Friedman on Andersson and (mostly) Chytil in his latest 31 Thoughts

Also a little bit on Shestyorkin, which is OT for this thread, but w/e

Eh, f*** Sorokin.

Having watched a couple of games by both, Shestyorkin is the better goalie. Not looking through Rangers colored glasses here, either.

The Rangers are going to let Staal play his way out of the lineup and that might take a while. We should have bought him out. I would move Holden--not because I think he's all that bad and I think he's good value for his cap hit but because I think there are three younger D who are ready for the NHL. We'd be better off getting something for him as he's not likely to be around next year with his contract up and all these others waiting in the wings.

I agree with that. AV/Ruff won't just sit him. It'll be a gradual thing.
