I thought Lettieri was okay in TCT, and I've actually been surprised by what I've seen from him in the exhibition games. I mean he still looks like a bottom six guy for sure, but he works hard, is seemingly in the middle of things a lot (like the play seems to find him) and shows some creativity. Hopefully he can have a nice year in Hartford and put himself in the running for a spot next year.

You are right. He probably is going to Hartford and that will tell more of the story for him. I like that he carries the puck with his head up. He is one of those guys that may not blow you away physically but I can see he has a bit of confidence in his offense.

Looks like he could be a stand out in Hartford this year. Was in the mix on a lot of plays, could translate well to the AHL.

Thanks. Would you take advantage of his "exception" status and have him play in the AHL this upcoming season?

Probably. I think he doesn't have much to learn at the junior level anymore. He needs mental work, and I'd rather he be within the organization for that.

Yes. A couple of full seasons in Hartford might be what's needed to develop him properly. I'd like to see Day, Zborovskiy and Crawley all stick in the AHL this season.

I think anyone who followed him in the O last season and payed attention during Traverse knows that Day is not ready. He has a nice wrister that he's not shy about using and is an effortless skater that can take it end to end... but that's where things currently end. He has some glaring weaknesses that prevent him from being considered for the big club this year. Notably, he doesn't think the game at a high level...and is often caught puck watching (rather than challenging). In other words, he tends to give the opponent too much room in his own zone. I think he needs another year in the O to work on his D-zone game. That will go a long way. Regarding his thinking/vision...don't know how much can be done about that...but I'd like to see him capable of more than just skating with the puck and throwing long wristers on net.

Has anyone given thought to moving him to wing? Let him use his high level size and skating combo without much defensive responsibility

So, reading between the lines, Lettieri and Chytil have both made the next cut. Also, given that he says Chytil will return to practice Monday, sounds like he already knows that the latter will be part of the "25 or fewer" remaining after Tuesday.

I would not be against that kind of experiment but its a very different view from Wing as it is rushing the puck from Defense. It could work but it often fails.

I agree, even if his family needs to fly out, if your in the western hemisphere, the USA is the best place for brain surgery.

I could see Lettieri sticking. Good bottom 6 guy, offensive punch, can contribute on the powerplay. Checks the boxes of a strong utility player. More use than a guy like Puempel

I think giving him a second game with a partner other than Kampfer (who should have been cut in his place) would have been nice, but what evs.

Based on what the players have done on the ice, these cuts are more or less fair when you consider that Staal's contract won't allow him to be cut. My guess is that he looks brutal tonight so we'll see if AV can sack up and actually relegate him to being a spare from here on out.

Not shocked to see Bereglazov assigned to Hartford

AV said on Thursday he was supposed to play Friday and Saturday. But once they announced the roster for today's game last night, and Crawley was playing, figured they were going to cut him

One game with actual NHLers to see what he got doesn't seem like enough but maybe he hangs around with Hartford. If he gets adjusted to the NHL ice, he will be a solid third pairing guy

But unless he really gets the sense he can make the big team, not sure why he hangs around. He will make 70K in Hartford, he could go back to Metallurg, make way more and play top pairing minutes for a championship team
