Seeing the declines I am actually not upset with a single one of them.

I think the difference between "declined" and "injured" is rather arbitrary but yeah. For instance Nyquist said he was having an injury but didn't specify. Meanwhile we haven't actually heard what type of injury some of these other guys have, outside of some of them being out for the season obviously.

Oh lord, Sweden's defence better be ready to carry the offense, the forwards are pretty awful. Glad to see Nylander joining so we have at least one forward who can actually, you know, play offense.

Even if the Caps are eliminated zero chance Bäckstrom comes, Burakovsky might though. Lindholm is playing injured so he's out (besides being bad this season/PO). Silfverberg and Rakell would be great but I expect that series to go down to the wire. Steen will definitely say no. Forsberg/Arvidsson would be great but have the feeling Preds will move on. Not sure if Backlund declined or wasn't invited? He had a good season I thought.

I have no idea why Sweden can't seem to produce elite forwards while churning out d-men. Hopefully Nylander can be a bright spark. And he played relatively recently on big ice which will also help him adjust more quickly. There comes a point when defensively responsible, 200 feet playmaking pass first forwards are not enough, you need someone selfish enough to actually get the damned puck in net.

Just curious but how does a player like Calle Rosen make this squad considering the high end NHL defenseman that made it.

To be honest I had never heard of him prior to these Leafs/Hawks rumblings.

Is this a player we should be excited about?

Because there is 8 spots open for defencemen.

He is 7-8 with Philip Holm. The 7-8 spots always go to a european league player.

Why is that? Will he see any game action?

I am not sure there will be any European D men left on the team. Some Swedish D-men will come out of the first round in the West. I can't see a reason not asking some of them then. The line-up of Swedish D-men has never been this good before, that's why I believe that the last D-men in previous tournaments have been European based players.

Calle Rosen nhl level D
Like Zaytsev in last year:)

Thats why i wanted to see alex nylander. He and william could spread magic together
Come on now, he's not THAT good right now. If Lindblom isn't good enough to make the team, Alex for sure isn't.

He never impressed me when playing for sweden.
Remember when Hedman was left off the olympic team when he got his breakthrough because he hadn't impressed previously playing for Sweden, lol.

Really hope Elias Lindholm gets a smaller "breakthrough" and has a massive tournament. He's probably the one im most excited to watch.

Karlsson, OEL and Hedman basically come at the same time, so it is only Klingberg that has come after that is truly 1D. This last years, Nylander is probably the best one comming from sweden among both forwards and d-men that have enter NHL.

I am not sure if Nylander is selfish, he is absolutly more of a playmaker than a shooter. The best shooters are probably among the d-men.

Either way, on paper this is a very good swedish whc team already, so no excuses for Grönborg if he fails.

You hope for 0.40 ppg lindholm to have a breakthrough? People say that every year.

Elias lindholm

I could see that work. Nylander and Lindholm doing work together and Rask mopping up/scoring goals.

My guess is that Grönborg will keep playing Omar-Rask-Lindholm.
So probably Landeskog-Söderberg-Nylander.
Or possibly swap Söderberg for W.Karlsson.

I think Karlsson is a better fit among the two options. A little quicker, make-plays-at-high-speed type. But you would need to complement with a Landeskog for sure.

Actually he had 0.63 PPG this season and had a strong finish of this season, but he have been pretty meh so far in this practice games.

0,76 in his last 42 games I just think that splitting him and Rask would benefit them both Ideally Omark -Lindholm- Nylander though noone on that line is perfect for a center role right now. I know that line wont happen though because it's not enough "brunk" for grönborg
