Klingberg- Brodin
OEL - Edler

Has there ever been a team so lopsided?

Pointwise for D-men it is jackpot. All the Swedish top players, except for the 3 in the top still in the play-offs.

Regarding forwards Sweden have to dig deeper in the list. A lot of them still in the play-offs and also rather many declining for reasons.

For the last 42 games of the season Lindholm was on a 62 point pace 0,76 ppg

First off i think most playeras at this level are not that one dimensional, so they can only shoot or only pass. I think similar player can work just fine with eachother, plus this was mostly about top 6 vs bottom 6, not line formation. What would you rather have in the 4th line, McDavid - Crosby - Kane or Lundqvist - Kruger - Eriksson Ek? If you can build a powerhouse with stars in all the lines, you simple do it.

Who is best comes first, what playstyle they have is secondary. BUT, the thing is, that you usually find different playstyle among the best anyway, so it is usually not a issue. But for some reason people tends to ignore that when it comes the star players, that they also can have all those attributes like grit etc. So even if we would have tons of grit among the star players, we still go far down to look for some non star player that happens to have grit to put into the team. I would say we have more of a obsession of forcing in players that are not good enough to balance it up, rather than forcing in players with grit.

Getzlaf have been a star for a long time now, he is hardly a product of Eaves.;)

Well, obviously if you have the personel to build a powerhouse team and you have versatile players, it becomes a non issue.

The issue appears when you put Linus Omark on your 4th line on one wing and Alexander Nylander on the other. What becomes their purpose? If they're stuck playing 8-10 minutes per game with no time on the power play, they're simply not going to be productive. Meanwhile, in those 8-10 minutes they play, they're not gonna "out skill" anyone when you play Canada, Russia or the U.S. And you wouldn't put them on your penalty kill either.

And this is why, imo, it's better to have the likes of Joakim Nordstrom and Marcus Kruger playing on the 4th line. In a short tournament, they can produce just as many goals (albeit they won't be as pretty) in those limited minutes of ice time, while not being a liability defensively. Plus they can kill penalties, meaning our other forwards will have more energy in store for 5 on 5 and the power play. The WC is short tournament with a very condensed schedule.

With no Hjalmarsson, I'm happy we could get Brodin on the team. OEL seems to thrive more when he's the clear go-to-guy on his pairing. So I hope he'll play with Brodin and not Klingberg. But of course Gronborg will have time to experiment some with this. I think Brodin played LD in Minnesota this season, but he's accustomed to playing RD from past seasons.

Hedman - Stralman
Ekman-Larsson - Brodin
Edler - Klingberg

This looks crazy good. I'm mostly worried about goaltendning at this point. If this team lets in too many goals, you know the media is going to look for any reasons they can find to blame it on a group of "overrated NHL defensemen".

Obviously Lando

I know he was pegged as the captain of the next generation before at least, he was wearing a letter at the home WCH and Olympics. But he didn't wear one at the World Cup.

Only other option I see is Hedman anyway, but both should have a letter.

I know but they sorta had to go by seniority in that tournament so Henrik Sedin was the obvious choice, and back when Landeskog was pegged as the next gen captain no one had predicted that Karlsson would become a hall of famer, but by the time the world cup took place he already was one, and on top of that our far and away best player, so again seniority.

I could see an argument be made for Hedman as he is the best player on the team and also a respected leader, but I'd bet they give it to Landeskog because he is an NHL captain and has been for quite some time and he has also played two previous tournaments with a letter on his chest in one of which Sweden won it all. That said I'm 99% sure that Landeskog, Hedman and OEL will wear the letters for Sweden

To be fair, he wasnt originally wearing a letter in the Olympics either (Zetterberg, H. Sedin and Kronwall were). He only got the A once Zetterberg was out and Kronwall got the C.

I think Joel Lundqvist will have a letter. He has been a mainstay in the NT for a decade and a half. It is like bringing when Jörgen Jönsson always got a letter in the WC even if Lidström/Forsberg were left without.

I guess we'll see but honestly i don't think Joel will even be there
