No Juolevi then? Would've been nice to see him instead of some wood hands defensive defenseman.

I wouldn't mind it if they had him too, but if they don't, well... let's be frank. A player who doesn't yet have much more than an OHL pedigree is not usually someone who should be brought up as a serious WHC candidate.

True that. Juolevi is not ready for the WHC. Not yet. That being said, where will he be playing next season?

Read again last question. I think best players from outside of NHL are Hartikainen,Koskinen, Kontiola, Lepistö and Aaltonen. Best players on the team from outside of NHL are maybe Aaltonen, Kemppainen, Hietanen, Pihlström and Palola...maybe.

Oops sorry,

The best Finns outside NHL are Kukkonen, Pyörälä, JMAaltonen, Kemppainen and Pesosen Janne

Pulju officially loaned but can be re-called at any time during tournament.

This puts me in a weird spot. I kinda want Oilers to be eliminated now so Pulju can't be recalled but at the same time it was such a cool move to let him go that I should root for Oilers win. Win win situation for both would be that Oilers keep doing well and there won't be injuries and Oilers don't ever need Pulju. Good for Pulju though. He will get some guaranteed non AHL minutes now.

Now for the lineups. I'm not sure would I put him with Aho or not. Aho should stay winger this WHC tournament. Aho winger vs Aho center is a little different but on PP it could be a little similar to U20 as Aho goes on his normal spot to play make. I'd prob keep them separated 5on5 and sometimes try them on same PP unit.

Juha-Matti Aaltonen of this season? Never. Törmänen didn't even let him play in the last playoff game of HIFK and he had something like +20 game no goal streak before that. It was written all over Urheilulehti and other media how he is one of the main reasons for HIFK's problems.

Good thing we have Miro Aaltonen on this team instead!

Now hoping for Armia, Koivu, Lehkonen (or Raanta), Korpisalo, Nutivaara, Markus H.
I'd say all the goalie additions are mutually exclusive, including Korpisalo. We'll get one and then most likely have Säteri as the backup.

What do guys think about Koivu? Think he might show up? I think Minni probably wins tonight but there is no way they will come back from a 3-0 deficit.

I know Granny and Haula have contract issues, but maybe Koivu shows up as he doesn't have too many opportunities anymore. Given that he is healthy.

Aho-Filppula-Rantanen
Palola/Haapala-Aaltonen-Armia/Kapanen/Lehkonen
Pyörälä-Kemppainen-Puljujärvi
Pihlström-Lajunen-Savinainen
Osala

Edited Pihlström in. Forgot.

Hoping we get one of Armia, Kapanen or Lehkonen.

Who do you guys find better Palola or Haapala?

I got a weird feeling that Koivu surprises everyone and comes. Trust me on this as I was the good luck charm that knew about Filppula ;).

Though logic says he should skip this one and can't blame him if he does.

Very happy to see Pulju join the team.

Aho, Pulju, Rantanen& Honka save this tourney for me. Our team on paper is pretty garbage but atleast we get to watch our golden age prospects turn into national team players and they bring speed, skill and creativity.

Hopefully without Laine Pulju gets the chance to show his one timer, Pulju- Aho on the powerplay atleast.

If there's room for only one in the lineup, I'd have Palola.

To comment your lineup, Pillu is miles ahead of both Osala and Anttila.

As for Koivu's arrival... *shrug*. It's really hard to predict.

Damn it. Forgot about Pillu. Going to edit him in.

Same. Based on old history as I haven't really watched Tappara's playoffs much this year. Also the experience factor. We already have young team and Palola has more experience over Haapala.

For me, it's no more complicated than that right now Palola seems to be doing somewhat better with the NT than Haapala seems to be doing with Tappara. Different environments, so it's not directly comparable, but still. Also, they aren't players cut of the exact same cloth, and this team has a more urgent need for Palola's assets than Haapala's. And I say this accounting the arrival of Puljujärvi.

But I think that in the end, we'll have both in the team.

He had a really strong start for the current Liiga season and the NT coach is his long time coach and there are a lot of old or current Kärppä players in the team so he just fits well in the team. So if he's on same par with some players this coach will surely prefer Pyörälä over them and that's OK to me in this case.

Someone who watched more Kärppä games than me can elaborate more on the subject.

Because Pyörälä has made better points than this season(55p/60 games) last time on A-juniors on season 2000-2001(56p/40 games). Second best Liiga-season by scoring is 2006-2007(45p/56 games). And additionally that his scoring is its peak now he is very good two-way player and was on the team on 2011 and have played well also on other WC tournaments.

BTW I think Pihlström will make his second best points in his career on WC-tournaments (he need four points to that achievement).

Yeah, Pulju is in. Good, good.. I think.

Now that Aho And Pulju are in, chances that Laine changes his mind just appeared in existance. Still sadly probably we won't be having Pula-Aho.

I hope Pulju plays a good tournament and just has fun. The kid deserves a "break", eating popcorn half year or playing 5minutes a game was just bad to watch for an 18 year old. He probably almost regressed as a player in Edmonton / AHL last year, but I think he 100% deserves a chance.

I feel like we are spoiled. Two weeks till WHC but just one week till EHT with Aho, Rantanen etc. If I remember right Pulju plays in those games too. That makes those games super interesting compared to the previous practice games of this spring. It was really hard to watch some of those games which lacked some NA young gun reinforcements. Honka alone made last game much more interesting for me.

Great to see the young guys joining, but oh man, without Koivu and Barkov our C spot is mostly garbage.

Koivu has always been dedicated to the national team and strikes me as patriotic, but I'm sure he's out of juice and he has his kids to attend to now.
