So Korpisalo has contract issues too?
Yeah, he's gonna be an RFA. But it's not like he can expect to get anything more than a cheap ~$1mil extension no matter what, so he wouldn't be risking a whole lot.

The same reason is likely why Honka wanted to show up. He won't be getting a big money contract yet.

True. Good point. CBJ will drop, so let's hope for Korpisalo to join.

Are there still two season left on Honkas contract? https://www.capfriendly.com/players/julius-honka
Huh. I checked a source which claimed Honka would be an RFA this summer. Him having years left would certainly explain it better, even if he couldn't expect much of a raise were it to expire this year.

Regardless, the point still stands that Korpisalo may or may not refuse because of his contract - he doesn't have all that much to lose.

It's a bit premature to speculate with this, though, since he's pretty much the bottom of the barrel. Any other NHL goalie willing to come will take preference over him. Koskinen would have too.

With Koskinen out, Korpisalo could make it if no bigger names get available.

Well Koskinen is out. I guess I need to eat my words because I´m slightly hoping that Lehtonen would come.

Raanta could be the number 1 guy for this team. Korpisalo... I don´t know. Still not entirely sold. But with them... I haven´t paid that much attention to the expansion draft, but I would guess that it could affect on them. Raanta is cheap option with seemingly good numbers and Korpisalo is young prospect. I have a gut feeling that neither of them would take the "risk" and come.

Niemi on the other hand has lot to proof and haven´t actually ever played a game in international tournament. Would he be upgrade to the guys who are curently on the camp?

The current trio isn´t bad, but it´s hard to pick the right guy out of them. The worst thing is that they start to play goalie roulette in such a short tournament. In some past tournaments we have managed to create ourselves a goalie problem without good reason

Didn't Risto participate to world cup without contract?
The World Cup was an NHL organized tournament, ergo all players were insured by the NHL in the World Cup. It's something that obviously doesn't happen in IIHF tournaments.

Granlund is not coming when the Wild drop. I will bet my mortgage. With no contract, there is no way in hell that he will risk his neck.

At this point, we will probably get Raanta and 1 or 2 players from CBJ.
That's about it.

1) Filppula, Aho, Rantanen and Honka are confirmed. Maybe I'm missing someone.

2)Hoping for Koivu, Nutivaara

3)1. Barkov 2. Granlund 3. Koivu 4. Aho 5. Laine

Read again last question. I think best players from outside of NHL are Hartikainen,Koskinen, Kontiola, Lepistö and Aaltonen. Best players on the team from outside of NHL are maybe Aaltonen, Kemppainen, Hietanen, Pihlström and Palola...maybe.

Most likely we don't get anyone else to "bolster"
our 2017 paris-köln WC roster.

We might get couple of role players, thats it.

Aho-Filppula-Rantanen line alone won't do much for us team Finland.
So many players "MIA" ...with a meh head coach, coaching staff
behind the bench...

With the words of one famous actor "we be f _ _ _ _ d!"

Indeed.

Still hoping for good news from Armia. Also, anyword on Lepistö? I know some were saying he already made the team. But is this for real? Any confirmation of his participation? :help:

We'll know next week who's coming - both from Europe and overseas - save for any possible first round additions. Players who aren't on the final EHT roster aren't coming. If we don't hear anything from Armia/Lepistö/whoever before that, it doesn't mean they're either in or out.

Well, save for maybe a goalie - I hear they're waiting to see what names are available after the first round before they decide who to invite. That means even one of the Dallas duo is still possible.

Now there's a peculiar albeit a highly interesting development. At first glance, the option to recall at any moment makes it a bit risky, but once he's over here, well... the logistics of such move should mean it's not something they'll just do on a whim. So their bench and reserve pool would be getting pretty short before they'd resort to it.

Though if the Oilers get eliminated, it'll be a moot point.

In any case, I heartily welcome Pulju, and I also applaud our management for handling this rather craftily. Now they can first test him on the EHT before adding him to the final roster (even if it's for appearances only), meaning they avoid some criticism of favoritism.
