Kevin Weekes has us as the 4th most improved team this offseason.
What a nice guy.
Cammalleri is gong to be huge for the Kings? Okay.
Two of the Kings prospects are on opposing rosters tonight on the World Junior Summer showcase tonight at 7 pm EST on NHL Network (but they replay the games later if you miss is live)
Kale Clague (Team Canada) AND Mikey Anderson (TEAM USA)
Vilardi was invited but unable to attend.
Hope that's not due to injury.
With injuries to Nolan Patrick, Tyler Benson, Tyson Jost, Gabe Vilardi and Adam Mascherin, there are 39 players in the Canadian camp.
Don't think, the Kings are a bad team. They can reach the Playoffs and who knows from there on?
They should try to get a little more deep on some positions.
1. Try to trade for John Merrill. His value isn't very high and Vegas needs to get rid of some defenders, otherwise they loose them trough waivers. I would offer something like Mersch and a 6th round pick. Merrill was always a dependable player when he found some self-confidence while playing a longer streak without injuries (didn't happen to often). He is something between a number 4 and number 6 defender (much like Folin) and would give us deep, if someone is injuried or Gravel and LaDue falter. Both are waiver extemd, so no real harm there.
2. Try to upgrade on RW. Jagr! I know, he's old, but better than everything out there. Sign him for 1 year (we don't know if Gaborik will play a lot of games next season) at around 3.75. He's worth it and could be (if everything goes wrong) a trade chip in March.
3. What about Sheahan? Detroit desperatly needs to shed some salary. His numbers last year where awful - but let's face it - nobody played well last year in Detroit. Since Babcock is gone, nearly every players numbers went down. Send them Dowd or Nolan and a late pick. Sheahan had 36 points two years ago and could be a perfect 3. line center.
Vilardi not playing is probably related to last years injuries, he got hurt playing in this event last year.

He had a reasonable showing as an NHL rookie, but then he started to lose ice time as coaches tried to juggle him/Gelinas/Larsson. All three guys arguably suffered as a result. Injuries have also hurt his development over the past couple of years.
On the bright side, he's got decent size but isn't particularly physical. He can make a good first pass, but probably won't show the offensive promise that he did early on in college. Average point shot and not really one to jump up in the rush.
He arguably had his best stretch as a pro this past December when the Devils D was decimated with injury and they almost had no choice but to play Merrill. Didn't put up huge numbers, but in 13 games he put up 3 points, was +4, and averaged over 21 minutes. Plus/minus isn't the greatest stat, but on last year's Devils squad, being a plus player was an accomplishment.
Probably the most noticeable thing about Merrill is that he looks like he has an extra gear that he rarely engages. Thin line between being a smooth player and looking like you aren't giving 100%.
1. Kings d wasn't the issue last year and their young trio of d will progress fine with more minutes. If anything, Luc and Blake might opt to move AMart or Muzzin to upgrade the top 6. Saw quite a bit of Merril as a Devil and he was inconsistent, lacks a physical game and has no offensive inclinations. There's a reason Shero exposed him. He's replaceable.
2. Jagr- no thanks, if Luc or Blake wanted him, he'd have been signed and not Cammy. Much better to bring one of the kids up and give them the minutes they need to develop.
3. Sheahan- I like him, but he's had a bit of issues with consistency. He was very good his first 2 years in the league and not so good (last year he was awful, was well into March with 0 goals ) the last 2 yrs. So I'm not sure who the real Sheahan is but right now, given his fall off, it shouldn't cost much and Wings need cap space, even 2M helps.
I've heard /read that the Pens (who want to upgrade their bottom 9 centers) are very interested in him. Holland does have to move somebody out to be CAP compliant by the start of the year and the names I've heard are Ericcson, whose pulling in 4.25M per and barely a 3rd pairing d and Nyquist (4.75) are the contracts he wants to move out. I'm sure they'd love to trade Green (6M ) but that will be hard to move, his contract expires after this year (as does Mrazek's 4M) and they will then have (counting Sheahan's 2M) 12 M if they want to chase JT. (But I can't see him signing there)
Sheahan could had cheap and maybe the change of scenery would bring his game back. He might be a solid 3rd iiner.
The fans that think it's a given that Gaborik starts the season on LTIR need to take themselves over to Instagram and look at his account. He's ready right now.
That is what is anticipated as of now. Rosen even said so in his recent blog post that Gaborik wont be at training camp and will likely miss the beginning of the season. Ridding a bike and playing around with your girlfriend is not the same as playing full contact NHL games.

Are you just a mouthpiece for Rosen or can you form your own opinion based on new information?

I follow him on Instagram, and I don't see anything that says he's ready. Doing rope exercises doesn't necessarily mean he's ready to play NHL hockey. Or does it?
What injury would you possibly be cleared for to do that exercise? The other guy said he was riding a bike and won't be ready which is completely made up. There are perfectly healthy Kings fans who can't do that exercise right now. Well, perfectly healthy isn't accurate, somewhat healthy maybe.

Wasn't it a lower-body injury? I'm no doctor, but battle ropes seem like the perfect exercise to stay remotely conditioned while not overly stressing lower body.
Gaborik is “questionable†for the start of camp due to a “more in-depth medical procedure for a chronic issue related to his left knee,†and I am yet to hear with any strong confidence that he will be available at the start of the regular season. That the injury was described as “chronic†is particularly foreboding, considering Gaborik is a 35-year-old with a lengthy injury history who is coming off a pair of subpar seasons in which his production fell significantly
