You're overreacting. It wasn't a great pick, the kid is still going to be a solid NHL player and he is as close to sure thing productive NHL'er as there was in this draft outside of the top 3..

It was a 7th overall pick. Lias Andersson does not have high-end upside(not IMO). We just got rid of a 1st line center for a guy who doesn't have as high-end upside as other picks available.

"You know who this guy reminds me of? Two really bad, really overrated defensemen."

-Literally, Pierre.

You are having a severe overreaction. The Rangers did not get spanked. They got two basically NHL ready prospects for Stepan.

I'm not going to agree with you at all and frankly you're not making any compelling points. They didn't gut the team. What are you talking about? They moved a center and their backup goalie. How is that gutting the team?

They replaced the 1C with a 3rd pair PMD who has the potential to be a very good top pair or second pair PMD. They also now have a 3rd/4th line C with potential for the top 6.

They also have a **** ton of cap space which you seem to always easily forget.

If the Rangers make the right moves in FA they could easily have a better roster than last year.

Everyone will have a different tone if we use the cleared cap space to sign Shattenkirk.

I know this kid doesn't have the huge stats of the juniors kids but I just looked at some videos. This kid looks physically stronger than some of these other kids. People may be falling on their swords too soon. Actually if we have any Knicks fans they will remember that Porzingas did not have good stats in Europe due to playing in mens leagues and he was a stud when he arrived in the USA.

I have no problem with him as a player. If we were looking at him right now as a possibility for #21 I'd be over the moon. I just think he's a bad selection at #7 with more talented players with higher upside still on the board.

The Rangers seem to use the draft to supplement free agency, while the rest of the league does the opposite.

Eeli Tolvanen... a sniper on the Rangers... it'd be nice to have goal scorers once in a while.
