NHL Network just showed some highlights of Barron. Prototypical Power Forward. Dave Reid is high on him, but mentions he's a project pick.

Who isn't a project pick in these rounds? Has anyone ever stepped right in and played?

So, he percolates in the NCAA for a few years. Good size. I'm okay with this pick.

I don't know anything about Barron, i don't like the pick given what was on the board though. Passing on Chekhovich, Minulin, Thilander, Hugg and Khodorenko seems less then optimal.

That was my thought, basically everyone they drafted has speed. Fact is, the NHL has evolved. It is a fast, uptempo, counter attack game. Teams with speed, puck moving defense, and good transitional game do well.

I feel like every year there are fallers who everybody wants their team to take and yet some of them remain even undrafted. Is there any statistics on such players? Because I hardly remember any of such fallers doing anything noticeable in the league afterwards.
