Speculation: Roster Building Thread : Part XVIII ( TDL is March 7th)

I feel like I follow the rangers religiously and then I come to these boards and think otherwise. I’m not saying you are wrong, but what evidence was there that Trouba had attitude problems? Was there a report I just completely missed. He was not a good player, but from everything I saw and read, he was beloved by his teammates. He always left it all on the ice.

I posted the same thing about Kreider the other night. Guy has been here for over a decade. Last year we were all talking about his number going to the rafters. Now he’s a disruptive locker room cancer who single handedly dragged Mika down.

Like i said, I’m not accusing anyone of being wrong or fabricating stuff, but where is this all coming from?

"It was difficult to play with that hanging over me," he said.

Trouba said his lame duck status made him an ineffective captain, a position he had held with the Rangers since the 2022-23 season.

"I was pretty open with players on the team," he said. "Leading was a little bit harder for me in that situation, knowing things were public."

...

Trocheck said Trouba didn't let the stress of the past few months of trade speculation "slip into the team" as captain.

"But you can imagine when you're in one of the biggest hockey markets in the league and the captain and those kind of rumors are out there, it's got to be extremely tough to put on a brave face, come to the rink and be that leader every day," he said.

With the Trouba trade behind them and a big win against a division rival, Trocheck said there was a sense of relief in the Rangers locker room.

"There has been a cloud over our heads for a little while," he said. "When you lose games, that's what happens. And it takes wins like this -- and more passion and emotion out of everybody -- to get rid of that."

If he is saying this much in his own words, then the writing is on the wall. He was moping, pissy, and all on top of just being a worse player time in and time out.

He's a fine dude, human being, whatever. He was liked by his teammates. He became a worse player. He got upset he was in trade discussions. He did all he could within his contract, as is his right, to cut off possible trades in summer "for his family," he lost his passion as captain, then he threw some parting shots on his way out. Rite of passage to get fired from MSG. On one hand wants to say it didn't effect him but in the same breath admits he put it out there to the whole team about his disgruntled nature, how hard it is for him, that he didn't waive until the Rangers levied a "threat" (his words) to put him on waivers (the irony is not lost of him exercising his full contract to strategically block any trade in summer but when the Rangers exercise their bargained for parts of his contract it is a threat lol), and that this has been hanging over "our heads" (i.e. his wife as well) for a while.

Rangers didn’t want him anymore. I’d also quit on them.
Then you'd be as unprofessional as he was.

He was getting paid a Kings ransom to suck on the 3rd pair & he stomped his feet up & down because his was approached about handing in his NTC list a week earlier. Sorry but this is entitled spoiled brat behavior. I'm so glad he's gone.

We can read what he said, but I must say your interpretation is quite…..entertaining.

very silly hypothetical since you can't get traded at work, but lets imagine the company you work for gets acquired by another. The acquiring company tells you that you have 6 months to finish your work for the company before you're being let go. Do you give a single shit about that company and the work you're doing for 6 months?

You can't blame anyone for questioning the return on investment for being a fan of this team. At least I can't. They certainly don't make it easy.
Beats being a Jets fan lol

Also horrible ownership meddling and management is what made me basically give up being a Knicks fan for about a decade

Has my quality of work drastically dropped off?

Have I been paid enough by this company to give generational wealth?

It's not some apples to apples

People get laid off for no reason in this country every day. Trouba can cry me a river with his millions and new rental property in Orange County.

does the CEO of an acquired company receiving millions of dollars as a buyout package give a shit about what happens to the company afterwards? Are they unprofessional for not caring?

If I'm getting paid $8M a year, there's little I care about. Defending his behavior is ridiculous.

Wayne Gretzky was traded, Jagr was traded, Bobby Orr was traded. Spare me any of this outrage that somehow he was so wronged because he wasn't playing well & the team wanted to move on. And when all was said & done he wound up getting paid to play hockey in a place where its sunny every day & the golf courses are always green.

I'm not saying he was wronged, and I'm definitely not outraged. I'm saying it's human nature to quit on your employer when they quit on you, regardless of how much money you make. I hope you guys never work for a company that gets acquired and stripped for parts
