I'm sure NYR looked at how Leafs handled Nylander here, my guess is that Lias stays in the AHL the rest of the season, maybe he gets a short call up but i doubt we'll burn the first year off his ELC.

Lias has had a very turbulent season no doubt, I would like to see him complete the season in Frölunda, his father has a big legacy over here and seeing Lias play one season before going to big show would be nice.

We will not see him for a long time over here and he's a treat to watch..

Next year is going to be rough loosing atleast Andersson, Dahlin, Grundstrom, Olofsson :(

Lias is physically mature and ready to compete at the NHL. I wouldnt be surprised to see him called up to move Holland to the 13th forward slot towards the end of the season.

That would be completely against what Gorton has been showing in his way of managing the team though

I just really want to avoid burning a year of the ELC. If he was going to be the difference between us being a contender for the Cup or not, I'd say okay, but right now I can't see that. Even of he came in and soldified the C depth chart we're still a train wreck defensively. I'd prefer he stays in Frolunda but Hartford is fine, just don't make a move that accelerates our need to pay him down the line. It would be shortsighted.

I think most teams are more concerned about the accrued season towards Free Agency than the ELC itself. At this point the NYR are not going to lose a year of cost control even if they do burn a year off of the ELC.

Accuring a year towards UFA is way more important than burning a year on an ELC.

All this being said...it is impossible for Andersson to do it this year, so it's a wash.

The only good reason for the Rangers to want Lias in Hartford before Frolunda finishes its season (and PO) in SHL is if they will be sellers at TD and expect to have open slots available with the Rangers to have Andersson get his cup of tea. Wolfpack is not likely to make P/O, Olympic competition and SHL P/O would be the highest level of competition available to Andersson outside of NHL.

Swedish news confirm that Lias Andersson will play for Hartford for the rest of the season.

no where in that article does it say it's for the rest of the season.. It's just say that there's not a lot of people who know how the spring is going to turn out for Lias.

I am Swedish and it says: "Frölunda will have to do without Lias for the rest of the season, New York Rangers have sent the super talent to Hartford in the AHL and he's already on their roster. Therefore his chance of playing in the OS is reduced. "

Should just go back to Frolunda. SHL wraps up before AHL. Once his SHL season is done he can come and join Pack.

The thing with that if he stayed in Sweden--he'd probably have been picked for the World Championships. If the Rangers look at him as a potential late season option--which may depend on whether they're buyers or sellers at the deadline-- it's probably best if he's in Hartford.
