Depends a lot who's BPA.
But if La Kings management decides go to goal-scorer options are Tippet and Tolvanen.

If La goes with center options are Rasmussen, Suzuki,Glass and Necas if La is looking center-winger options are Mittelstadt ( if available) and Joni Ikonen ( can play C and RW).
If La is looking for winger options are Vesalainen and Kostin if La is looking defenceman options are Liljegren,Hague,Foote, Makar ( if available) and Valimaki.

Good list. Since your Finnish, whom is this Miro Heiskanen, who is now #3 overall on this site? He has another Finn, Vesalainen at #13 overall.
A big winger, that played in Frolunda (SWE) this past season. Do you know much about him?

Yes Miro Heiskanen is that Finnish d-man who's ranked to go TOP5.
It's really unlikely Heiskanen is available for Kings 1st pick of course anything happen but if Dallas goes to defenceman they might take Heiskanen if they won't take Vilardi.

Tolvanen is probably best goal-scorer in this years draft but Tippet is very good goal-scorer as well.
And if both are available for Kings it'll be tough decision for Rob Blake and Kings management to select between Tolvanen and Tippet.
Tippet is taller than Tolvanen so if Kings wants big goal-scorer then Tippet is their guy but still it's not easy decision.
Tolvanen has committed to play next season in Boston College NCAA team.

Kristian Vesalainen was best forward in U18 WJC's and he was top scorer of the tournament ( 6+7= 13 points in 7 games).
His U18 WJC's was absolutely his best tournament in this season. In world juniors Vesalainen was huge disappointment but so was entire Finland's team.

Vesalainen couldn't score much points in Frolunda and they loaned him to HPK's liiga team before world juniors and he scored 1 goal in 9 liiga games.
After U18 WJC's Vesalainen criticized that how Frolunda treated him after world juniors.

Vesalainen mentioned his interview in Iltasanomat ( Finnish daily journal) that no-one in Frolunda's organisation wasn't interested of his development and that how he's doing.
And no-one didn't even talk to him especially Frolunda's SHL teams head coach Roger Ronnberg was one of those guys who didn't care Vesalainen.

Vesalainen isn't returning to Frolunda anymore he signed liiga contract with HPK last week.
And he'll play there next season if his NHL team won't sign him ELC contract.

As a player Vesalainen is versatile forward he can play LW and RW.
He's very good skater for his size ( 6'3). He has an explosive first step and very good acceleration, allowing him to be quick on loose pucks.

He also has good top end speed once he gets going. Possessing good lower body strength, and a powerful stride.
Vesalainen is very good at fighting through checks and getting to the front of the net.

He also is strong along the boards, winning battles for the puck, and controlling the game in the cycle game.
His agility and edgework is good for a big man, but continued improvement is possible.

Vesalainen has large wingspan he takes advantage of it, and uses his excellent stick handling ability to play keep-away with defenders.
He also has the passing skill to move the puck to teammates in good areas once he creates that time and space.
A budding power forward, Vesalainen wins battles along the boards. He is also not afraid to fight through checks to get to the front of the net.

Vesalainen also has an excellent array of shots.
His wrist shot and snap shots both feature good power and a quick release.

He could work on his accuracy though.
Vesalainen can also bury in tight to the net, with the soft hands to finish in close to the goaltender.
He chases down loose pucks relentlessly. Vesalainen is involved in the play in all three zones. He has a very high motor and is almost always at the center of the action.
Vesalainen's hockey IQ isn't optimum and he could take stupid penalties in wrong moment ( He did that sometimes in U18 WJC's when Finland had powerplay).

Joni Ikonen is 5'10 tall C / RW prospect.
He has grown up in hockey family his older brother Juuso is 2014 world junior gold medalist who plays in Brynas team in SHL right at the moment.
Juuso Ikonen didn't get drafted in NHL. Joni's father Juha Ikonen was also pro hockey player.
Juha Ikonen never played NHL in his career but he's played in liiga and SHL ( Frolunda).

Joni is versatile player as i mentioned upper he's C / RW of his position.
As a player Joni Ikonen is skilled forward with impressive speed.
A diminutive center, Ikonen does not let his size deter him as he takes direct routes to pucks.
Shows a tenaciousness in puck pursuit and a willingness to get to the gritty areas of the ice.

A player who truly hunts the puck, Ikonen is always buzzing around the net and is able to pounce on loose pucks.
A player above average skating abilities, Ikonen possesses good speed and impressive overall mobility.

Ikonen effortless gains entry to the offensive zone as he’s able to back off defensemen with his speed and puck skills.
With an ability to create space for himself, Ikonen can be dangerous as he shows deceptively strong vision and playmaking skills.

A player who shows creativity offensively and the ability to create for his teammates.
Ikonen is versatile in the offensive zone as a goal scorer and a playmaker.

Ikonen routinely engages and wins puck battles despite average at best size, displaying deceptive strength to his frame.
A player who can play almost to fast at times, Ikonen could better create shooting lanes and show a little more patience in possession.
As he can force things which leads to turnovers.
With that being said the pace issue should improve as he plays with higher skilled/paced players, while the other areas should improve with maturity.

In U18 WJC's Ikonen was one Finland's top3 players with Heiskanen and Vesalainen (Chosen by Finland's coaching staff) .
He scored 8 points ( 4+4) in 7 games he would have been able to score more but he played with injury ( broken thumb) last games in the tournament.
And that injury affected his game one example playing with injury was that Ikonen couldn't take draws.

Ikonen played with Vesalainen in Frolunda's U20 team and both got some games in Frolunda's SHL team too.
Joni's draft season was better than Vesalainen's.
In 40 regular season games Ikonen scored 41 points 22 goals and 19 assists meanwhile Vesalainen scored only 4 points ( 4 goals) in 10 regular season games.

There's chance Ikonen stays to Frolunda after his draft.
Ikonen needs to gain more muscle-mass and few inch more height isn't bad either ( if he even grows more).

Juuso Valimaki
Valimaki is an excellent skater.
He has very good speed and acceleration in both directions.
This allows him to join the rush and get back defensively.

His edge work and pivots are also good, allowing him to play his two-way game and transition from offense to defence (and vice-versa) quickly.
He also has the lateral agility to walk the line and open up passing and shooting lanes on the powerplay.
Valimaki could be stronger on his skates, but this should come as he increases his lower body strength and muscle mass in the coming years.

Offensively, Valimaki has become more assertive in his second year in the Western Hockey League.
He has started to carry the puck and lead the rush more often.

However, he is still more likely to start things with a good first pass and getting involved as a trailer.
He has an excellent point shot that can be a real weapon on the power play.

Valimaki’s slapshot is hard and accurate, and he gets it through to the net.
He understands how to keep it low, in order to generate rebounds and tip in opportunities for teammates.

Valimaki also has a good wrist shot it features a quick release.
He uses it effectively when pressured at the point, getting the shot off quickly before defenders can shut down shooting lanes.

Valimaki is not the flashiest player, but he does a lot really good things out there.
His hockey IQ is very high, and he almost always seems to make the right play with the puck on his stick.
He has the poise to control the puck and quarterback the play from the line, as well as the passing skill and vision to find open teammates on the powerplay.

Here's some highlights of mentioned Finnish players.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Vesalainen drop as far as round 3. He'll be drafted but I'm not sure how high. Other than U18 tourney stats (who did he produce points against in the tourney?) And considering Frolunda production and prior lack of production he is a player I just don't get. At U18 tourney he was a big kid in comparison to much of the competition. World Jr. reflects better on playing vs. similar size or older competition. At 208 and the skillset how big is the upside? There are draft elibible kids playing in CHL, OJHL, AJHL, BCHL, GOJHL, NAHL, USHL that play against 20 year old men (possible 21 year olds by season ends) that put up big points. Some of them might have a higher skillset and be just as big height wise and haven't filled out yet - upside is essential. Tough one there. I could see teams passing for a while. Good player. Lots of good players with a higher ceiling that may not be drafted at all. He will be drafted. He will have a chance to prove me wrong.

Wow, thanks for taking your time and providing all of that! I would not mind it at all, if the Kings selected Tolvanen.

Your welcome.
I just thrown those Finns in discussion to reflect that LA Kings head European scout is a Finn ( Christian Ruuttu).

I don't expect that Ruuttu prefers any Finnish prospect who might be available for LA Kings 1st round pick.
If Kings are drafting some of those Finnish prospects that prospect needs to be clear BPA for Kings.

If i have to predict where those Finns are going i would guess something like this.
Heiskanen TOP5 ( at least TOP10)
Tolvanen Anything between TOP10-TOP25.
Vesalainen Anything between TOP10 to late 1st round.
Ikonen Late 1st round to mid 2nd round.
Valimaki anything in TOP15 and TOP25.

PS that what i mentioned of Vesalainen criticizing Frolunda doesn't mean that he's coach killer.
Frolunda has Europe's best junior development system ( European version of London Knights) but now they screwed up very badly with Vesalainen.

If you believe dallas fans 3rd oa + can be available for muzzin and bishops rights I agree with both picks if we can get them

Wow, i know its a weak-ish draft but Muzzin and Bishop for 3rd overall and maybe a mid rounder..

I might jump on that deal to clear cap space and we can get a Forward/Center plus a defensemen...:amazed:

With a couple weeks of the season left i had discussions with dallas fans about Muzzin for a first ,Riley Tufte and Philippe Desrosiers for Muzzin. A few days ago i see the 3rd oa thread up and asked if muzzin is still a fair deal for that same price They all said no the value went up So i added a 2nd to our side and they thought it was fair an willing to do it. Then there was a thread up about Bishops rights I asked dallas fans would Bishops rights and Muzzin work for 3rd overall ,Riley Tufte and Philippe Desrosiers They said it would Now i ask would my fellow king fans would u do the deal i worked out?

I'd do Muzzin + rights to Bishop for 3rd overall in a heartbeat, but bet Dallas wouldn't. I suppose it depends how the kings value Vilardi, Liljegren, Tippett, etc if Dallas would even trade the pick. What about Bishop + #11 overall for #3 overall? Probably not enough.
Was reading there are calls for Bishop's rights and that Hawks dealt Scott Darling to Canes for a 3rd round pick...so Bishop may get that kind of return.

ISS released their May draft rankings. SOme of these prospects are all over the board,
when comparing lists...some list had Pettersson 8 and ISS has him 20th. ISS has Suzuki at the Kings' selection.

Yup. I'd be surprised if dallas would move the 3rd overall though, even if it is a weaker draft. I don't know that i'd aim specifically for Tufte in a trade....

http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/201...-tufte-2016-nhl-draft-profile-scouting-report

.......My biggest issue with Tufte's game over the years has been his habit of just playing on the perimeter rather than taking advantage of the fact that he's 6'5" and going into the dirty areas of the ice in front of the net to make plays. There are also a lot of times off the rush that he'll choose to pull up and try to make a cute pass rather than lowering his shoulder and driving hard to the net........

.......The only times I saw Tufte held quiet during the high school season were games in which the other team was really physical against him; especially if they could put a big hit on him early. Tufte loves to play a finesse game, but as he progresses, the brand of hockey he'll face will be much more physical, and that's something he'll have to adjust to.......

Sounds like he'd fit with the current group though:sarcasm:

I think Dallas is in a win now mode and a legit top 4 guy in Muzzin plus an all star caliber G in Bishop would certainly help in that regard... the 3rd pick by all accounts won't be contributing anytime soon so is that package worth a PO spot to the Stars for the 3OA ???

Well i think he still got a half year down in ontario to teach him that goto the net more. I took him over others as i thought he was closer to nhl ready then anyone else.

I think 3rd overall gets us a young center (glass would be my pick) who will be ready to step in when kopitar and carter are ready to step down a notch or move to wing. I think hes only a 18 months from playing feb 2019 ish

I think some of those skills you've either got or you don't. If he's not driving to the net at 6'5 against other kids, he's not likely to want to go there against the monsters in the nhl. Having said that, its unfair to tar the kid with one old scouting report. there is obviously lots to like about his game (you definitely cant teach 6'5)

It could be a similar move to when the Flyers traded Ruslan Fedotenko to the Lightning for the 4th overall where the Flyers selected Joni Pitkanen.

While I wouldn't say that Feds was the missing piece, he certainly filled a an important role which helped the Lightning win the Cup that year.

i was hoping a dwight king replacement in feb 18ish with a better finish

He'd be few tiers up on the mighty dwighty, just different games. As an aside, anyone else read the "crappiest player to play on your team " thread, King was quite a popular vote for the habs faithful.

lol well its pretty well known my feelings on King However i can see Trufte if getting the same ice time would be getting more points. The kid has better hands and a better feel then king.
