Smells like politics to me,Chiraelli is canadian
so he doesn't want Pulju to humiliate team Canada
two years in a row :sarcasm: .

Oilers dont need him to win,Finland needs him to win
should of been a no brainer.

At least Finland has a good excuse if gold doesn't come this time. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to follow how team can manage without the supertrio of Laine-Aho-Puljujärvi.

Maybe this was supposed to go like this.
Coping for semifinals will be Finland's U20 WJC gold medal this year.

We will see how Vesalainen Räsänen Tolvanen trio corresponds to the expectations.
Now, there are at least aware of the bigger responsibility for that trio.

Hopefully those guys steps up.

Each year Canada loses a handful of junior superstars because of the NHL so that excuse won't hold much water. This year McDavid would be eligible to join if the Oilers let him and he makes our "supertrio" pale in comparison.

This.

It's about who is important for their respective NHL team. Of course Canada has many players each year they could play but can't because they play in NHL (getting regular minutes). Even Finland has some players now who are eligible but won't join because they are playing for their teams (Laine, Aho).

That's not the case with Puljujärvi and sending him to AHL instead of WJC is just a big ***** you to Team Finland. It's just politics. But poor poor Canada has to play these tricks apparently, which is a bit odd.

lol  Only thing Oilers care about is how Puljujarvi develops. Oilers' future is not dependent on Team Canada's success or lack of success in one tournament and they owe nothing to Team Finland.

If they really cared about Pulju they would let him play 20+ minutes in the AHL and participate in the world juniors. They just don't want Pulju to humiliate Canada in Canada and make the Oilers staff look like clowns.

Nah, if he was sent to the AHL and not released to the WJC the decision would still be made on the basis of what's best for Puljujärvi and the Oilers. Team Canada would have no bearing on it whatsoever.

I personally rather have him play in the NHL/AHL, whichever it may be. He has nothing left to prove at World Juniors, he tore it up last year and it provides a serious downgrade from the NHL and even the AHL. Adapting to the NHL game is his priority #1 right now, anything that interrupts it would be an unnecessary distraction.

The amount of sour grapes and tinfoil in here right now is laughable.

The key difference between being in the AHL and at the WJCs is that they can recall the player at a moment's notice from the former.

And it's not even the first time the Oilers do something like this. A couple of years back, they barred Leon Draisatl from participating, and Germany - with or without him - sure as heck wasn't any threat to the Canadian hegemony.

Chiarelli is simply thinking the Oilers first, not Team Canada first.

Sorry, I've been watching a lot of Alex Jones lately. Still can't help but feel neither side is benefitting by keeping Pulju benched.

 We'll give you Pulju, and we'll take McDavid.

No NHL players were released for team Canada either. Even ones sitting in the press-box.

Guys you cannot be serious. Chiarelli and the Oilers don't care about Team Canada at all. Chia is concerned about the Oilers interests. Period. Pulju has already had a couple injuries this year.

It is not a giant conspiracy (use some common sense -- no Canadian players got released either. Even Beauvillier who has been in the press box for awhile).

You guys should view it as a compliment players like Laine and Pulju have moved onto the NHL already. They are beyond the Junior level. They've "graduated" to being pros. It's a good sign for Finland's future at the Mens level.

Why doesn't anyone have Koivula in their top6? The guy is amazing. No way a guy like Vesalainen is a better scorer than him at this point. Vesalainen should be used as a 3rd or 4th liner with some energy IMO.

The team will likely have three scoring lines and one grinder line, it doesn't really matter if it's 3rd line on paper, he will have good linemates no matter what.
