Maybe he isn't being targeted as the 3C, but rather as a top 6 wing who can slide over to centre if anything happens to Sid/Geno. It's the exact same skillset Duchene would offer (save Duchene is better at it). I can see that being pretty valuable.

Still need to get another 3C in this scenario mind.

Gally only makes sense if Hagelin is going the other way and we are going to trade forechecking and PK for higher end finishing ability. Doesn't really seem like the kind of move we need to make, at least to me.

"Struggling" is a relative term though. Galchenyuk's season of struggles had him producing on pace for 59 points as a 23 year old.

He'd be one hell of an LW for Geno IMO.

Half of his goals seem to be one timers from the right circle. I think I'd have him on RW here.

Girgensons for Pouliot is something I'd be behind for sure. Two guys who just need to get a different look.

I agree. Gigensons started out real hot. I think DB sucked the life out of him. Great buy-low candidate, good enough 3C. I'd rather load up on D and the wings than spend up on a 3C.

Imo it will be very revealing whether Botterill is interested in Pouliot. If he isn't... then either he knows there's no getting him off of Rutherford for fair value, or he knows he's not a player you want. And the former seems unlikely, even if we're two seasons removed from keeping Toronto off of him.

Mebbe. Possible another winger moves.

In any case... I dunno. Depends how he'd be used. I do think it's easier to make an attacking player defensively responsible than it is vice versa though, and if we could have moderate Two-Headed Monster insurance that would be sweet. But at the same time, yeah, I think we've got a ton of scoring and need the complimentary pieces to make it work. But could you teach Galchenyuk to be both?

Don't see us going for Radulov at that amount. If Florida moves Demers, they could get Radulov/Kovalchuk/Dadonov...

With MAF gone what do you think GMJR is gonna do about a back up? Jarry? Sign a veteran?

What am I missing about Demers? He looks like a decent puck moving dman who is paid a bit high but not madly so. Why are Florida so mad about moving him?

GMGM and JR are good friends though.

2018 2nd, Pouliot should be enough. Add a prospect if needed.

I'd 100% do that. I think that's quite good for both sides too.

Absolutely. However I gotta wonder about Buffalo just recently getting Beaulieu and Botterill's intimate knowledge of Pouliot. That could help or hurt...not sure which.

Having Condon back would be great

I would be all for that. Chad Johnson would be a good grab. Trading for a 50% Halak would be the most ideal IMHO.

Need to keep or replace the character guys who went back to back.

Kovalchuk, galchenyuk, radulov and all the other shiny baubbles have never won anything for a reason.

This team went back to back I'd give anyone who wants a chance a threepeat the opportunity. At the trade deadline, if things aren't good re-evaluate.

Raanta would be great but a deal with NYR probably not likely.

I can definitely get behind Zemgus Girgensons. Big, versatile, still some upside there, can probably replace Bonino perfectly.

I'm down.

Not that we should get Kovy but he's been a pretty good playoff performer.

Apparently, they want to shed a lot of salary. They are starting to become the Marlins of MLB. Sign a bunch of guys one year, sell off players the next.

I don't know what that franchise is doing. But it is never good to be compared to a team owned by Jeffrey Loria.

As someone who thought that Girgensons was a middling prospect and a complete joke of a first round pick, someone please sell me on how he'd fit here as anything more than a 4th line center.

He may only be that, you're right. But he is still just 23. Same age as Sundqvist, but with 4 NHL seasons under his belt.
