The Kings are now tied with the Wild for the final wild card spot.

From competing for the division title to being on the verge of dropping out of the top 8.

Just your typical winter doldrums. It’s become an annual Kings tradition.

Well if it makes you feel any better..ANA, EDM and CHI, all teams to of course with the Stanley Cup this year, are all sitting outside of a playoff spot.

Yikes, dunno how I feel about Maroon to LA. Kind of feel like we tried a similar move a couple years ago..

I noticed LA seems not to claim players very much.Be nice to see if they can get a diamond in the rough.Staying pat on this roster isn't working and just seems to be spinning their wheels.

Claiming players costs cap space and roster spots, both of which we do not possess a wealth of. The entire reason Jokinen was dropped anyway was to free up a roster spot

Oh i understand completely how the waiver wire works.Jokinen was placed on waivers to make room for Muzzin. If Blake isn't going to use the remaining cap space for a trade to help the roster, then take a chance on a good asset and dump Andreoff to make room.

Who are the healthy scratches now? Seems like Kings are losing depth with Cammy, Jokinen.

Looks like one of Andreoff/Clifford and one of Amadio/Iafollo and one of Ladue/Gravel.

Also, if Kings go after Maroon they have to find a way to dump one of Andreoff or Clifford.

Another thing, this team went from the second best record in the entire NHL and first in the Pacific to a total free fall to the last wild card spot tied with the Wild. But let's put Jokinen on waivers and try again a failed attempt to make Ladue the top 4 savior and give away much needed depth like Jokinen and keep a plug like Andreoff on the roster, brilliant.

But he's a great lockerrom guy!! At least he should work on his next motivation speech so he can help out the team get out of this loosing streak.
stevens re jokinen:

“He’s been great. He’s been a really good teammate,” Stevens said. “He’s come in, his attitude has been terrific. He’s like another coach in the locker room. He understands the game really well, and I just think it’s a situation where maybe some young guys are taking a step. Get an opportunity to look at some young guys and see where they’re at. Muzz has been on the IR, so there are only so many spots on your team. But he’s been terrific. He’s been a really good teammate and a really good guy to have here. He’s good for us, good for the young guys, and when he played, he helped us.”

Cammalleri or Jokinen, it was never both. When Brown, Gaborik, and Kempe score some, it lessens the need for Cammalleri. The issue is Iafallo would be great on the 4th line, but he's ended playing on the 1st.

So was this team ever a contender or not? You keep saying they're not and haven't been, so their 2nd best record in the league earlier meant nothing since it was in a small sample size. They got hot for a couple weeks. Hot in late November does not a contender make.

If they're not a contender, then LaDue should be given a chance to get some additional minutes. Hopefully Brodzinski gets back in. Even Andreoff should be in the lineup to help them get a better draft pick, because they're a paper tiger anyway.

There's no logic behind why AA is still on the roster. JJ was better than him.

If they send Andreoff down, he's being paid NHL money while in the AHL. Probably figured Jokinen would get claimed, so they waive him.

Since I think it's clear to Blake and Stevens that this team is not and was not a contender this year, you save your assets. I imagine that's the logic. Granted, Andreoff isn't an asset, but he is a cheap player that you can have on the roster to meet requirements. Unfortunately it seems like Muzzin is coming back soon, so they had to make room somewhere. Can't trade Jokinen if every other GM knows you're up against the roster limit, they can just wait you out. What would you get anyway? A low conditional pick? He's got 1 goal in 32 games this year.
