Oh please, the fact that you mentioned Mcnabb on Vegas discredited everything else you said.

...

McNabb in Vegas--2nd in TOI/GP (20ish a game), tops amongst D in +/-, top pairing PK with next to no PP time, 2nd amongst VGK D in CF% and relCF% (0.96), 60.34 GF% (11.89 relative to team) which is best amongst VGK D, facing the 2nd toughest competition on the team, with the 3rd toughest relative zone start ratio.

Come again? "Wouldn't even make the roster on a good NHL team" indeed.

Anomaly. Players as awful as McNabb who have zero brains don't randomly develop an IQ next year on another team.

No, but they can iron out their inconsistencies and take on a role more appropriate for their skillset, though frankly those are similar results as he was getting here. I'm comparing him and Forbort inasmuch that I agree with you that both have brainfarts on offense and D but they get a raw deal based on how they're used too. They're better than they get credit for, much better, especially when you're suggesting they're not really good NHLers but simply seatfillers on the roster. They are darn good depth NHLers. They're just not visibly dynamic and do next to nothing on offense so they get to be easy whipping boys when the going gets tough.

They’d probably want a top 4 defenseman in return, since they’re probably going to make the playoffs, so not sure there’s a fit there.

Unless Forbort was going the other way but we’d have to add.

Ladue and A first.

Yikes. No thanks. Not interested in Mr. Minus.

Good luck getting a top 4 defensemen for less.OEL has struggled this season for sure, and on a bottom feeding team no less, but think he could turn it around in LA.If we could get him to extend I do this deal in a heartbeat. As much as people hype up Ladue, there's a reason why he isn't playing on the Kings roster.JJ would be another interesting idea if you could get the right deal done with CBJ.

I believe OEL and JJ are getting mixed and matched in this particular discussion.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

Imagine other teams trying to defend against Karlsson and Doughty. But seriously, what would you trade for Oliver Ekman-Larsson?I believe he is making 6 mil.Not sure if he has any term left after this season tho.
I think OEL, Karlsson, and Doughty become UFAs at the same time.

McNabb wasn't awful and did/does not have 'zero brains' Some defenseman struggle to find their place I the NHL, its' a tough position to learn against the best players in the world. Most make mistakes, it's a learning process . And to me, a large part of his issue was Sutter's glare, which for some, esp young players, is a confidence cracker. Look what it did to Dustin Brown and he was a seasoned vet.

He's got less than 300 games under his belt , which for a defenseman is nothing. He's only 26 and now has a team that believes in him and rewarded him with the security of a fair contract.

McNabb is in a good place for him now, being used in a way that complements his skillset and due to that confidence that comes from that, his game will grow. And he's got a coach who is a very good players coach, as the team's success reflects. It's made a big difference , stability and faith in him.
He'll do just find in LV.

I think all 3 will get paid quite handsomely. OEL will and should move on, he's only knowing losing his entire career. He's too good to waste what will be (when he inks his new deal, he'll be 28 when it starts) the meat of his prime years in AZ.
Talks have go nowhere and the Yotes could get a nice haul in return. Leafs have a bit overloaded at center, and have some kids on the farm as well, they might be a good fit. And he'd be young enough to fit into there future.

McNabb has been better than Gravel, Forbort, Fantenberg, MacD, and Martinez this year. He's not awful, he was really good for a lot of his time here. This year he's putting up solid numbers again, while averaging nearly 10 hits per 60.

People constantly blast McNabb because he's their whipping boy, you don't have solid stats year after year being awful.

Again. That more has to do with the fact that Vegas is killing it as a team altogether. None of it has to do with McNabb. Let's wait until next 1-2 years before we pretend like McNabb took a big step forward when he showed no signs of It as a king.

The complaint about McNabb definitely wasn't that he was never good.

Let's not forget, tracing this back, that the claim was that Forbort isn't even an NHLer on a good team. He compares favorably to McNabb, who is an impact #2 on the 'surprise' team in the NHL this season, a division leader. You're moving the goalposts.

Remember when Zach Bogosian was neck and neck with Drew Doughty the year they were to drafted? They compared Bogosian to Scott Stevens, and Doughty to Ray Bourque. Good thing Dean picked Doughty!

I do feel for Bogo though, the guy is an injury parade. Really crazy trajectory for a guy whose work ethic and fitness was a perk coming into his draft year. IIRC that was the main reason anyone was looking at him over Drew--will Drew ever work out? vs. This guy is a fitness animal.

The Mayor on if he’d do a Pearson + trade for Simmonds...

“I'd make that deal for this reason: mayorsmanor.com/2017/04/proble…
What's not to like about it? While cap hits are nearly identical, Pearson is signed for 2 additional yrs (Blake needs cost certainty in future yrs) and Simmonds is 4 years older.
Respect 70, yet I'd green light it.”

Interesting, wonder if Blake makes a call...

It would also be a little extra incentive for Doughty to resign with his buddy back in town.

Is that supposed to make me care? I've seen a ton of posters be wrong in totality.

What was the complaint about McNabb then? Cause I remember his nonexistent hockey Iq, and piss poor speed very well.

What is it with Kings fan developing a longing for a player that moved on? Especially a plug. So weird.

That would not be a wise trade. Speed is everything right now. Besides, Simmonds is now 29 which is the official player is washed up year.

Same. Always was a big fan of Bogosian, wish he turned out to be something more.
