He does. By an insane amount.
It's amazing how every defenseman that rides shotgun with Doughty becomes much better than expected. Muzzin, Scuderi, Forbort, MacDermid. All except McNabb that is.

Doughty is just that good. I can understand why Sutter put him on the ice 27-29 minutes a game. If you could leave him on the ice for the entire game, wouldn't you?

It really is crazy how much of a magnifier he is. I forget the exact numbers, but even last year when people were suggesting he wasn't having a good year, the Kings were the top GA team in the league by a significant amount (1.5ish GA/60) with him on the ice, and 17th overall without (2.somethinghigh).

Not on this forum in particular, but the hockey world gets dazzled by sparkly point numbers and forget everything else...and then forget that drew is elite at everything but raw production.

We've been linked to Kane for a while. Have to believe some of the smoke.

Friedman, Bobby Mac and co, were talking about this on the TSN INsider Trading and noted that the Sabres are willing to retain salary. I think they've been trying to move him and are now trying to sweeten the pot a bit. And teams are calling. The risk is that what they'd have to give up and what if EK doesn't sign in LA.

If Gabby keeps up his current pace i'm inclined to place him on the top line and have a 3L of Kempe-Iafallo-Lewis...

Gaborik-Kopitar-Brown... Still our best line
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli... The key to our season
Kempe-Iafallo-Lewis... Speed, Speed, Speed
Jokinen-Shore-Mitchell... a very nice 4th line IMHO

Muzzin-Doughty
Forbort-Fantenberg... This pairing needs to show something
MacDermid-Martinez or Martinez-Frolin

Quick
Kuemper

Unnecessary changes. Kopitar has played fantastic alongside Iafallo and Brown; no reason to change that line.

One game in and Kempe and Gaborik has looked good paired together. Why break that connection?

Kempe is not a center and it shows, granted his offensive prowess has blossom having a natural C like Iafallo could benefit both players... As good as Iafallo has been, if Gaborik continues on his current pace, he could allow the top line to become flat out dominant... hopefully similar to TB levels...

Where have i seen the last sentence before?

Not sure I want to pay the price for Kane, and isn't adding more experience on the blueline a higher priority?

They've already added Jokinen and Mitchell up front.

You only pay for Kane if you get an extension along with it. He sounds like an ES beast who works best when left to his own devices on his own line. With our iffy depth limping along until Carter’s return that would be very ideal.

But yeah, I probably also consider the defensive depth a bigger priority.

Any Kings scouts?

Per Larry Figurski

What does this entail?

And that Kane comment by Hoven is nothing but opinion. Not fact. I doubt the Kings would spend on a winger rather than 3rd line center

Not sure, don't have the list of scouts attending.Kings don't need a third line center. They've Kempe and Lewis and Shore to rotate there once Carter returns in Feb.Kings need another top 4 defenseman and another top 6 winger imo.

Is Kempe a centre ?

What would you offer for Patches , seems like you may have a need LW.

Looking for young players / grade A prospects to become top 6 C , top pairing D/high draft picks.

Brown change his diet or something?

Not really good at faceoffs but is getting better in that position. I 'd prefer to put him back at wing. As of todays game nothing I think the kings are fine at forward If anything a another defense man (Chara? maybe) As for Brown he and Sutter hated each other The coaching change is why he is so much better

1) Kempe is playing Center (because Carter is out) but he's probably better suited for LW.

2) Nothing for patches. He doesn't fit the needs of LA. LA needs a Top4 RHD, 3rd line Center (don't want Plekanec either) and getting Carter healthy. LA shouldn't be moving youth for older wingers.

3) Brown got healthy and got away from Sutter. Brown wasn't a bad hockey player, he did everything else well; just couldn't score (more snake bitten). Sutter's system killed all offense. Plus, Brown and Sutter butted heads.

Kings do not need a third line center. The Kings have Lewis,Shore and Kempe and youth in Ontario to fill their need at that position.I don't see Kings wasting a trade on that position. They need a top 4 defenseman and top 6 winger.Top 4 defenseman is the priority.

Patches would be a good addition, but I'm not sure the Kings are willing to part with what Habs fans would want.Maybe give us a idea what you would expect prospect and or draft picks wise for Patches. It would be a lil easier to gauge a answer you're asking
