Pacioretty would solve the Kings problem at LW in the short term. A 30 goal scorer is simply something the Kings do not have and if you can deal Pearson plus for him then you pull the trigger. Pearson is not developing into the top 6 player the Kings need.

That we are trying to acquire Max PAC and Habs asked about one of Toff or Pearson or Vilardi

I think that conversation pretty much died when Vilardi's name was involved, as well it should be. He's far too valuable a piece for this team building into a Cup contender for the future. Adding Patches won't make this team a Cup contender. I love his game but giving up TT, TP , top draft pick and/or Vilardi for a 1 yr rental is bad magic. Patches is turning 30 this year and has 1 yr left, the Kings do not need another player in his 30's on a LTC.

Except short term doesn't fix their problem and you wont' get Patches for Pearson. Why would the Habs do that? They've had plenty of calls for Patches and having moved him yet, and that Rags deal with Nash, just moved the bar up. And giving up a 1st round pick for him and more for him would be insane.

Against SJ: 1-3-0
Against Calgary: 1-1-1
Against Anaheim: 2-2-0

SJ is 3-1-0
Calgary is 2-0-1
Anaheim is 2-0-2

SJ up 6-2, for a +4
Calgary up 5-3, for a +2
Anaheim is up 6-4, for a +2

SJ has 74 points
Calgary has 73 points
Anaheim has 73 points
Kings have 71 points

1-3-1 at home against those 3 teams, and they're 4-0-1 on the flip side.

Those head to head's are still coming back to haunt them.

Just me personally but if I’m Blake and Co. I’d cash in on Toffoli and get a nice package of top prospect(s) and a 1st to say Carolina who had Necas, Bean and a top 15 1st...
Then target Evander Kane in the off-season... at most he’d cost $2 million more than Patches but is what 5 yearsyounger and no assets would need to be traded, plus withBailey and Backlund signing sub $6 million per contracts....I think that’s where his pricewill land...

The Kings ironically lead the all important ROW

The most impressive thing about Pacioretty for me is that he put up four 30 goal seasons playing with who on his line? Desharnais? Plekanec?

I said it on the main board but if Blake and Luc trade the farm, i.e. Vilardi, for Patches or any other quick fix I'm done with this team until they're fired. This team isn't closer to a Cup with Patches.

Fair enough on the contract point. But you sound ridiculous comparing Kempe to him based on one season. Pacioretty is no more a 20 goal scorer than Carter was a 50 point player in 2012.

And the idea of making a trade like this is to go for it before a Doughty contract kicks in. You get two chances to win a cup with a premier 29 year old goal-scoring winger when Kopitar is 30 and 31, Carter is 32 and 33, Quick is 32 and 33 and Doughty is 28 and 29 and Muzzin is 29 and 30.

This is assuming of course that Doughty re-signs with the Kings and then you get this playoff season and the next playoff season with Pacioretty on the roster with Doughty still on a reasonable cap hit. I don't think the acquisition of Pacioretty makes the Kings contenders, but it is an interesting premise.

If Doughty doesn't sign a new contract on or around July 1, Blake has to ship him out.

Blake is stupid to trade Vilardi or anyone considering the Kings are out of the playoffs. He should learn his lesson from the Sekera deal.

You don't deal for Pacioretty unless you are sitting where Vegas is, or someone for sure in the playoffs.

Yup. If the Kings were #2 right now in the Division, I'd say it's a move to consider. Right now, they're too inconsistent.

Kempe is in his first full season and his potential is anywhere from 20-30 goals. Likely closer to the former than the latter of course but you never know. Pacioretty’s 21 year old season saw him finish with 3 goals for comparison. 5-8 years of cost controlled Kempe sounds way better than 100-ish games of Pacioretty.

I'd love Pacioretty, but his contract situation is basically Lucic 2.0

Pretty much this. If the Kings somehow do get Pacioretty and don’t win the the cup, we’ll be hearing about what we gave up to get him for a decade.

The only pieces I’d feel good about trading would be;
Paul LaDue
Kevin Gravel
Jonny Brodzinski
Michael Mersch
Tyler Toffoli(has to be a great package)
Christian Folin
Oscar Fantenberg

Pretty confident that Blake won´t sacrifice future for short-term guys. Look at the Phaneuf and Rieder deals, both hockey trades in which the Kings traded no picks or prospects. I don´t think our first or Vilardi is even up for discussion at this point. So I´m not worried.

According to many Kings fans, Toffoli is having a terrible season. He has 3 more goals than Pacioretty.

Toffoli has also played with the likes of Kopitar, Pearson, Carter for 10 games. Who are Paciorettys linemates?

With that being said, I wouldn’t trade Toffoli for Pacioretty. Pearson is another story.

For whatever reason, if he isn’t scoring he doesn’t really contribute, whereas Pearson is obviously slumping but he’s in the crease creating great screens for his teammates... If Tyler is that dependent on Jeff Carter then he could be expendable. A $4.6 million player should be doing more...
