Blake is going to sit tight and re-evaluate in the off season.
I firmly agree with you..
Guys like
Toffoli
Pearson
Muzzin
Martinez
Lewis
Are all going to be evaluated with maybe 2 being traded... I think if Amadio continues to improve and if Vilardi slides in effortlessly into a top9 maybe top6 role, then Carter could be in play.., but that’s all next season... this season I want to see more Amadio, Iafallo, Kempe, LaDue and Gravel if possible

Kopitar, Brown, Carter, and Quick are all 30 and above, we can’t be complacent with not making the playoffs. If we’re gonna do a mini rebuild, you may as well look into shipping those guys out for picks and prospects...

You ship those guys out and it’s a full rebuild!
You ship out what isn’t working/improving/living up to expectations....
with Vilardi, Amadio, Iafallo, Kempe, Rieder, and possibly LaDue, and Gravel... all expected to contribute between this season and next, the trade candidates are obvious, at least to me;
Tanner Pearson(not doing enough)
Tyler Toffoli(^^^^^)
Alec Martinez(Depreciating Asset)
Jake Muzzin(best trade asset besides DD)
Jeff Carter( if healthy, he replaces JM)

Toffoli has also played with the likes of Kopitar, Pearson, Carter for 10 games. Who are Paciorettys linemates?

With that being said, I wouldn’t trade Toffoli for Pacioretty. Pearson is another story.

This year is been a mix of Drouin, Galchenyuk and Gallagher. So definitely not horrible line mates.

His past centers have been Desharnais (90% of the time), Galchenyuk and this year Drouin. So I don't get the argument of horrible line mates. Even when he has had good line mates in the Olympics; he couldn't produce in big games.

He’s the Eddie Jones of the NHL, for the Lakers fans on here....lol

Just an honest question...
How much do you guys think Evander Kane will cost as an UFA... especially considering the recent contracts of Bailey and Backlund???
Kane - Kopitar - Vilardi is my dream..

Kane will probably ask for 5-6 million a year.

I don't think he is worth that, but he is young and probably has another 30G season in him. Some GM will pay him what he wants.

At $5-$5.5 per, I’d love him on the Kings. He’s what, 26YO and seems to be the ideal LW for Kopi...
It also gives us more options/assets...
Kane - Kopitar - Vilardi
Kempe - Carter - Toffoli
Iafallo - Amadio - Rieder
Mitchell - Thompson - Lewis

Wonder what Pearson would fetch...

This team is more Top9 talent playing Top6 roles. A lot of middle of the order guys put in tough spots. The only guy I see underperforming is Toffoli.

The team should look like...

XXX--Kopitar--Toffoli
Kempe--Carter--Rieder/Brodzinski
Pearson--Amaido--Brown
Iafallo--Mitchell--Lewis
Thompson, Andreoff, Clifford

Forbort--Doughty
Phaneuf--Martinez
Muzzin--LaDue
Folin, Gravel

Quick
Campbell

The question with that lineup is can you get Pacioretty without moving Vilardi...No! (And the Kings shouldn't move Vilardi ever). So you need to find someone that can fill that spot at cost.

The cost being something of...Brodzinski, JAD, 1st, Gravel, Clifford (Cap space), and maybe Martinez.

Given that his last contract was $5.25, Kane and his agent may shoot for 7 but will probably land somewhere in the $6.5 range.
When looking at Bailey and Backlund, can he and is he, honestly worth $6.5-$7??? Those two guys while not the goal scorer Kane is are producing higher yearly point totals... I’d much rather try and sign Kane than spend much needed assets for Patches...

Blake doesn't have the luxury of sitting tight at the deadline. After everyone got fired, Blake and Luc made it clear that being competitive for the cup is a must. In addition, not making the playoffs guarantees that Doughty is gone. He made that very clear through his various comments. I realize that their expectations are not realistic considering we are no where near the elite teams in the league, but from a business standpoint, Blake has to go all out.

For this team to have a shot at making the playoffs, they need a legit top 6 winger to play with Kopitar. This need has existed since the beginning of the season (actually further back) and continues now. Iafallo is great, but he is not a top 6 winger. He doesn't score. He is better suited on the third line with guys like Kempe and Lewis.

All Blake did is get us numerous bottom 6 forwards, but never addressed this team's need for another top 6er. I think he will pull off a deal by the deadline tomorrow.

How do you get a top six winger without giving up significant assets? He has already said he won't mortgage the future. We've already decimated our future in recent years, so that's out. You'll just create another hole by moving current assets for a winger. I don't see anything happening, outside a minor move, like maybe Gravel moving.
