The maroon to LA buzz won’t die down. He’s a product of playing with the best in the world, heck put me with McDavid and he’d bang 20 off my stick. Hope Blake avoids this slug
With all the bad penalties this team takes have the built in pun if he does end up here. What a Maroon. Not that I want him

Grabner would probably cost Brodzinski and a 2nd or 3rd rounder...

No it wouldn't , per Bob McKenzie, asking price for Nash is 1st rounder, top prospect and a lesser player , prospect and pick. For Grabner, it's a first round pick only.

Grabner is a good player, the Kings aren't going to get him for their scraps.

"A second-round pick and something is believed to be the asking price right now for Michael Grabner from the New York Rangers and lots of calls on him." Bobby Mac.

Countdown to TradeCentre: Wings 'open for business' - Article - TSN

The phrase "right now" is the key, if there are multiple teams in on him, maybe that price escalates but the closer we get to that 4pm? deadline on March 1, maybe the price goes down a bit, it's all a big game of poker, we'll see who puts their chips in.

Every team in the hunt wants a guy like Grabner. Blake's best play is to make some calls early, then lie in the weeds. See if some GM ends up as the last one picked at the dance.

You have teams that are clearly not going to make the playoffs:
Rangers, Red Wings, Blackhawks, Senators, Habs, Oilers, Canucks, Sabres, and Coyotes.
You also have teams in the East that are on the fence:
Panthers, Islanders, Hurricanes, Blue Jackets.

There are players there that aren't going to cost an arm and a leg. Don't be the guy that overpays.

The Montreal board still talks about Vilardi ++ for Pacioretty.

There is one suspicious habs fan who just keeps talking about him. He is willing to sell low, Vilardi and the Kings 1st round selection.

Another fan says he would take that and run.

I love that place, together with Toronto’s forum.

Why waste a 2nd rounder on a guy like Grabner? He won't be used in our top 6 once Carter is back, and how much more of an upgrade is he than Kempe, Lewis, Amadio, Brodzinski etc.? I don't think getting him will somehow make us contenders. Also, Blake already said that he won't go after rentals and is looking to make a hockey trade. So based on that, I don't see us getting Nash, Kane, Grabner, or Maroon. The only way I would be cool with getting perhaps Maroon or Grabner is if the cost was a prospect that doesn't have a shot of getting on the Kings, e.g., someone like Mersch. But I doubt Mersch could fetch us a rental like that unless we added a draft pick.

I would love it if the Kings tried to get Tatar. He is signed for a few years, and would look great with Kopitar. We can then move Iafallo to the third line with Kempe and Amadio, which would be a strong line since Iafallo is a puck retriever, Amadio is a distributor, and Kempe is a shooter/driver.

They can keep dreaming. There is no way we are trading Vilardi. I think objectively the value is fair for a Vilardi for Pacioretty trade, but it makes no sense for the Kings. We need cost controlled players for depth. This would never happen, but I would do Vilardi and our 1st rounder, for Pacioretty and Montreal's first.

The delusion is strong over there.

Do not want Grabner at a futures price that some other team will pay. Better off staying the course for now. I think we've made our big deadline move already frankly. And I think it's the model for anything else we'd theoretically do, a hockey trade for beyond this year.

One of my favorite trade deadline memories was from 2001 (ie, the old old HF message board days). For weeks, this one Habs fan would post outlandish trade ideas for Eric Weinrich. At the time, Weinrich was an okay defenseman who was playing a ton of minutes for Montreal because they didn't have depth.

But he was a rental and a few months away from turning 35. One in particular I remember was a straight trade for Alexander Mogilny who was in the midst of a 43 goal season.

Despite the negative feedback to all his proposals, the Habs fan confidently declared that he'd be proven right on deadline day and that we all undervalued Weinrich.

Weinrich was then traded straight up for forgettable defenseman Patrick Traverse. The whole board had a good laugh about that and the Habs fan was suddenly nowhere to be found.

That said, somebody made the observation that all fan bases probably have 2% wacko posters. I post on the Kings board since I need a break from the Devils board at times. Since Montreal and Toronto have large fan bases, the number of wackos is just more pronounced.
